I leave school that day in a haze of confusion. Why. Why was there a fire in school? Why did I feel a stabbing pain of jealousy in my heart when Casper walked out after Bianca? I don't know. I don't know and it's driving me crazy.
I feel an arm slip around my shoulders and I tense
"Oh just relax, I'm not going to hurt you," Casper says, laughing when I blush bright red.
"Seriously though Scarlet, you need to relax," he says, grinning that beautiful, unnaturally white smile. Something in my stomach flutters and I nod.
"I'm not worried about anything, Casper" I roll my eyes, distinctly aware of the fact that he has not removed his arm from my shoulders.
"I know more than you think I do. See ya around, Scar," he smirks, winking one of his blue eyes at me. I watch him walk away, gaping. He turns and waves, flipping his hair out of his face and open the door of his car.
I wait on the curb for Bianca. I have a lot of questions for her. I watch her stroll out of school, pulling her brown hair into a pony tail. She sees me and smiles.
"Scarlet! Hey," she says, somewhat squeaky. What has gotten into her?
"Hey, Bea. Where the hell have you been? I've been waiting here for twenty minutes," I jokingly ask.
"Oh you know, around," she shrugs trying to play it off.
"Bianca, what happened in the bathroom today?" I ask. I'm not playing around today. Her face pales.
"What do you mean?" Her voice breaks and I can see the panic seeping into her features. Just as I notice it, she calms herself and places a complacent mask over her body.
"You know exactly what I mean! What aren't you telling me?" I shriek and I feel a sudden heaviness in my head. My head starts to throb and fall to my knees, clutching my head. I can't create a coherent thought. I try to focus on Bianca's shoes but I find it impossible.
Why isn't she helping me?
My vision spins and goes black.
