"The forest is so pretty at this time of night," I laughed. "Especially with the fluorescent mushrooms!" I was saying to my partners, Gloxinia and Drole. Gloxinia was the fairy king, and Drole is the giant chieftain.
"Well thank you for the compliments, Elizabeth. I'm sure the forest enjoys it." Gloxinia chuckled. Right now, the three of them were walking through the fairy kings forest, or just Gloxinias forest.
They continued walking along, marveling at the beauty of the trees, plants, and even animals.
"Say, Gloxinia," Drole began. "I know that this forest is the most beautiful place in all of Britannia, but even you have to admit, we come here everytime." Gloxinia was sputtering in surprise. "Let's, say, leave the forest, go on a slight trip." Elizabeth's eyes lit up.
"That sounds amazing! Please, Gloxinia? It'll be fun to explore. I bet your sister will really be impressed." She said. Gloxinia thought of his little sister saying how amazing he is and how he's the coolest brother ever.
"Alright, alright, I'm in." He sighed. Drole and Elizabeth cheered and clapped their hands. "So I guess if we just walk forward I'll make a portal out of here." Gloxinia said, and with that they started moving forward.
After 30 minutes of walking, there was an abrupt change. The air was less magical, the area was darker, and the animals were more ominous.
"We've left." The fairy king announced.
"Oooh, I'm so excited!" Elizabeth squealed.
"Haven't you seen the outside world while you were in battle?" Drole asked bluntly.
Elizabeth's eyes started to sting a little."No, not like this." She whispered.
After a while of walking, Elizabeth suddenly stopped. Drole and Gloxinia stopped too.
"What is it princess?" Drole asked.
"This magical power. It must be him right?" She wondered aloud.
"It must be who? Princess you're scaring us." Gloxinia said. Elizabeth took off running, well, flying. The others tried following her but she was going really fast. She stopped when she got into a clearing.
It was a small grassy area, with beautiful flowers everywhere. What was most stunning though, was the waterfall that spilled into a small natural pool of water. In the middle of the small body of water was a rock, and atop the rock was him. She knew it. His magical signature was hard to miss.
She was about to call out to him when something stopped her. He was looking down at the water. He should have seen her, or felt her magic, but if he did, he didn't say anything. She saw a drop fall from his face and into the water.
"Stupid goddesses! Stupid war!" He yelled suddenly, punching the water. Then he started crying for real.
"Meliodas." Elizabeth said softly.
"Elizabeth. What are you doing here goddess?" Meliodas spat, glaring at her.
"I want to help you." She murmured.
"Help me?! You can't help me, unless you have a way to end the war!" He burst into tears again. Elizabeth settled down on the rock and sat beside him.
"I don't, I'm sorry. I want to end the war too." She said quietly. She put a hand on his shoulder and he did something unexpected. He turned to her and started sobbing into her shoulder. Elizabeth was taken aback for a moment before she started gently stroking his hair.
"Shhhh. It's okay Meliodas, we'll try and stop the war." Elizabeth whispered her words of encouragement. She wanted to ask what brought about this sudden change in his opinion of the war, but knew that would be insensitive. Soon, the sobbing died down, and he began to snore a little. She couldn't help but think that it was a little cute.
"Elizabeth!" She heard a voice yell from the grassy area. "Don't-run off-like that." Drole wheezed.
"Uhhh, Elizabeth, who's that?" Gloxinia said before his eyes widened. "Elizabeth, get away from him! I know he looks like a harmless little boy, but the kid your holding is-"
"Meliodas," She said confidently. "I already know that, we've met several times." Gloxinia looked affronted.
"Then why are you pulling him into your shoulder?" Drole asked cautiously.
"He was crying." She tried to explain.
"Pfft, demons don't cry." Gloxinia chuckled cruelly. "They get off on destruction and chaos. They're terrible monsters." His eyes were dark.
"Not all of them!" Elizabeth cried desperately. "You can't stereotype an entire race! Meliodas can't help that he's a demon any more than you can help that you're a fairy!" She yelled.
"I haven't killed anybody!! He has killed thousands!" Gloxinia yelled back, equally furious. Elizabeth felt Meliodas begin to stir against her shoulder.
"Just shut up for a second Gloxinia!" She yelled. She winced at how cruel she sounded. Gloxinia and Drole were both shocked into silence. "Sorry to yell, but just, be quiet." Gloxinia 'hmph'ed.
Meliodas opened his eyes blearily. Elizabeth was shocked to see that they were an emerald green. Meliodas looked up at Elizabeth and quickly pulled back from her shoulder, blushing a little.
"Elizabeth." He said curtly. She smiled at him.
"Meliodas." Her voice was like the summer sun. Meliodas wondered at how someone could be so beautiful. They stared into each other's eyes for a minute until Elizabeth spoke up. "Your eyes are green." She giggled.
Meliodas was embarrassed. Taking down your demon mark was like undressing. A very private thing, only shown to mates and occasionally close comrades. He quickly turned his eyes back to black.
"Awww," Elizabeth pouted. "I kinda liked them like that." She said.
"Hm, well maybe one day you'll get to see them." He said, smirking at the connotations and the idea of taking the daughter of the supreme deity. He quickly shook his head.
"Ahem." Came a soft coughing from their left. Meliodas looked over. Oh come on, did they see his eyes too? He leaned into Elizabeth and whispered the question. The shook her head, blushing a little and he sighed in relief.
"Hello, fairy king Gloxinia, giant chieftain Drole." He said, nodding respectfully. Gloxinia was glaring at him, and Droles expression was guarded.
"Why are you here?" Gloxinia spat venomously.
"None of your business." He replies shortly, putting up his guard too. "Well, Elizabeth, I'm going to go, seeing as I'm clearly not wanted." He said, turning to to the goddess.
"Wait, no, Meliodas! I want you." She said sincerely, not realizing what kinds of pictures that brought to his mind.
"I can take care of that later, princess." He said, winking. Elizabeth blushes as she realized what she'd said.
"Wait, not-" She said before cutting herself off. The demon was gone.
A/N: Wow, I know this is terrible writing. I feel like they jumped from enemies to flirting too quickly, but whatever, I can always just write a different story about this.
