The stale silence lingered between you and the men for awhile before someone from the engagement party poked their head asking why we were taking so long. Glancing at the clock, you realized you both had been talking to the BTS members for fifteen minutes.“I am sorry. But we need to get to our party.” you said shortly as you linked your arm with Hyung-Sik, gently pulling him to the door. To any bystander, it would look like you were rude, but if they knew they history between you and Yoongi, they would understand why you couldn’t leave him soon enough.
“Why don’t you join us?”
Stopping short of the door, you whip around and stare at Hyung-Sik with angry eyes. How could he invite them without talking to you first at least?
“Sweetheart….” you said carefully, “I am sure they came here to have dinner on their own.” You smile softly at all of them, trying to appear happy he asked them at all.
“Ji-hyo, Taehyung is a friend, I should have invited him anyway and of course Namjoon and Yoongi are welcome.” he said whispered as he let the others discuss among themselves. “Besides we have more than enough food for the party.”
“I just don’t want them to feel pressu-”
“Yeah we’ll come.”
Yoongi smirked a little when he spoke as he looked at you, fixing the cuff of his dress shirt. Taehyung smiled at Hyung-Sik as they both fist bumped each other, while Namjoon called someone to tell them the new plans for the evening and all you could do was sigh, defeated.
“It will be great to have you.” you said as sincerely as you could muster. “Please go inside.”
Bowing to us slightly, Namjoon and Taehyung entered together, with Yoongi following close behind, just stopping beside you for a second.
“I can’t wait to catch up Ji-hyo.” he said softly. “I hope we can talk.”
“Don’t count on it. This isn’t a reunion, it’s my engagement.” you said curtly, but in a whisper so Hyung-Sik didn’t hear us speaking. “Don’t bring up the past, it needs to be left there.”
Turning away from him, you look at Hyung-Sik and smile sweetly, ignoring Yoongi as he walked inside with the other two. You look into Hyung-Sik's eyes as you fix his tie, and remember that this is your special celebration with the man you love and that not even Min Yoongi was going to ruin it. Letting Hyung-Sik kiss your forehead gently, you take his arm and enter into your party to a room filled with applause and smiles, and one very somber looking ex-friend.
The party went on for hours, neither you or your fiancé getting a break between your friends and family. The same could be said about Taehyung, Namjoon, and Yoongi. They were constantly approached by people, congratulating them on their success in music and asking what their plans were in the coming year. Taking quick glances at Yoongi, you noticed he wasn’t saying much and let Namjoon and Taehyung work the crowd. Chuckling to yourself, you found it a little funny he hadn’t changed to much since you knew him. He still was as she as ever especially in tight groups. One stage he seemed confident and commanding, but of stage he was still the same Yoongi.
Meeting your gaze, Yoongi gave you a small smile, which made you quickly look away and back to Hyung-Sik who was talking to another family member. Touching his shoulder, you whispered you had to use the restroom and would be back in a minute, honestly you just had to get out of that room. Too many people, too warm, and someone you couldn’t bear to deal with didn’t make the room comfortable.
Working my way through the groups of people at the party, you walked out of the room and took a deep breath. Going to the restroom, you take the time to fix your hair and your makeup, you really wanted to splash water on your face, but again, makeup. Taking about ten minutes, you finally emerge and make your way back to the party, only to have you rest grabbed and pulled into a side hallway where they kept the linen closet. The grip on your wrist was slightly painful, like there was a sense of urgency and you automatically knew who it was without seeing their face, the rings were a dead giveaway anyway.
“Yoongi, for fuck’s sake, let go of me.”
You pull your arm away from him and rub your wrist as you stare angrily at him. Checking your wrist, you breathe a sigh of relief there is no dark bruising.
“I’m sorry Ji-hyo.”
“For what? My wrist?” you snap as you move your bracelet some, to cover up the light mark slightly forming.
“That and you know….everything else.” he said, his eyes serious, but sad. Unfortunately, years of anger and sadness beat any sympathy you had for the situation between you.
“Don’t generalize, that is basically admitting you don’t know or don’t care what you did.”
“It’s been 3 fucking years Ji-hyo!” he yelled, his fist hitting the wall behind him.
“Yoongi get your voice down!” you missed as you looked around the corner, making sure no one was coming.
Sighing, you crossed you arms and gazed at him. He was visibly upset and angry, but you couldn’t say anything. You wanted him to feel how you felt when he broke your friendship into a million pieces.
“Yoongi, I don’t know what you want me to say.” you started, trying to hold back the desire to yell at him. “I need to get back to Hyung-Sik and my guests.” You were not in the mood to deal with him or even hash out the past, your future was waiting for you. That is what your mind should be on, but they were interrupted by warmth wrapping around your shoulders and your face into a cologne misted chest.
“Yoo--Yoongi...let go.”
“Ji-hyo please I am sorry….please forgive me.” he whispered in your ear, his warm breath tickling your ear, making your body feel weak.
You hadn’t felt that sensation in a long time...even with Hyung-Sik. Only when your best friend held you all those times you cried or needed support. And here it was again in front of you and all you could think of was your anger. Attempting to pull away, you felt his hug tighten around you, making it impossible to get away.
“Ji-hyo?”
A voice made you jump and use all your strength to push Yoongi away, and hard into the wall, causing him to stagger a little in surprise. Turning in the direction of the voice, you see Hyung-Sik standing in front of you both, his hands in his pockets with a look of disbelief.
“What is going on?” he asked, his eyes moving between us.
“Nothing.” you answer quickly, as you take his hand and kiss his cheek. “Yoongi was just congratulating me again. I mean we were friends after all.” you lied through your teeth. Yoongi moved away from the wall and held out his hand to Hyung-Sik, who hesitated in grasping it.
“Yeah that was all. Congratulations to you both.” Yoongi smiled softly as he shook his hand. “You are very lucky to have her.”
His voice had a tinge of sadness which you noticed, but you assumed it was due to you not forgiving him. Nodding to you both, Yoongi left the small area as you leaned against the wall, biting your lip.
“Ji-hyo do we need to talk?” Hyung-Sik questioned as he closed the distance between you. Standing up straight, you pressed against the wall more as you felt his arm snake around your waist, his eyes looking into yours.
“There is nothing to talk about Hyung-Sik.”
“Are you sure? It is a little concerning finding your fiancée hugging another man.”
“He hugged me….it was nothing more than a hug.” you assured him as you wrapped your arms around his neck, smiling.
“You still love me right?”
Laughing, you kiss his lips deeply, in which he accepts you, your tongues intertwining as you press closer to his body. Even with his arms around you, it didn't feel the same as when Yoongi embraced you, but you chalk that up to nothing more than nostalgia. Pulling your lips from his, you feel his lips move to kiss your neck, your eyes closing.
“I only love you Hyung-Sik. No one else.”
You bury your face into his shoulder as you let his attack of kisses on your neck continue, completely unaware that Yoongi was around the corner.
