It was the day of the Halloween Ball. I remembered what Jakob had said. He had come to every one since he had been born. His wide smile, blonde hair. Jakob. I would be meeting everyone's families at the Ball tonight and seeing his again. I was a little nervous. I didn't know what they would think of me. I was a princess. What if they thought I was snooty or obnoxious? I couldn't help it.

I left my room and bumped into Shaan. He wrapped his arms tightly around my midriff, nuzzling my neck.

"Do you just wait outside of doors or something?" I asked, delighting in his touch, giggling.

"Constantly. Sometimes I'm there for hours," he ribbed with a grin, pulling back to look at me. His hands moved teasingly from my waist to my hair, carefully running his fingers through its strands. He hummed in his throat, kissing the areas of my face.

"Are you excited for the ball?" I whispered, wrapping my arms around him. Shaan bumped his hips sedately into mine until we were against the wall. I sighed as he nibbled and bit at my neck.

"Yeah. You'll love my costume. To use your favorite word, it is awesome. Are you excited for the ball?" I don't know how he did this. He showered me with affections, made me feel a million waves of love and desire, and could still hold a conversation.

"Of course." I briefly kissed his lips. "I'll get to see your awesome costume. Maybe we can escape a little early." I nibbled at his ear and I felt his body shiver against mine. There was nothing better.

"Oh?" he asked, melting into my touch. becoming completely taken by the stolen moment.

"I might have a little surprise for you," I said with a smile.

He lifted up my left arm and pinned it loosely with his right. Shaan then pressed his head into the nook of my outstretched arm and neck. The thin straps of my dress were being pulled up and down by Shaan's teeth, him making a growling sound that lit me on fire.

"Tell me the surprise," he muttered throatedly.

My breath was hitching but I replied anyway. "Do you...not...know what a surprise means?"

He released my wrist, his hands now rubbing the extent of my arms. They stopped methodically at my dress straps before he began to tug them down.

"You really want to know the surprise this bad?" I asked, laughing. He stopped his descent.

"I really do." He sounded like a child.

"You're ridiculous. Now put back my straps and get ready for the surprise of your life!" He fixed my dress then I bounded down the hall, leaving him with an air kiss.

I spent the rest of my day preparing for the ball with Lupita. She wasn't a hundred percent but I could tell she was getting better. Mom and Dad stopped by with the boys to laugh at my costume and Amberly came in to borrow a book. It was a great day.

And the night was even better. There was wonderful music, laughter. Then I had to meet their families in costume. I had never been so nervous. Why had I decided to be Rapunzel from Tangled?

I adjusted my long blonde wig and entered the old Women's Room. Chaarlie was presumingly with his Mom, Tyrion with his mom, sisters, and a random dude, Shaan and his family, and Adim with his. Berry was removed from the Selection as of yesterday and his family was meeting Amberly in the corner.

I walked to Tyrion first.

"Let me guess: Nerway and...you are Rosalie!" I deduced, pointing at the two adorable girls. Nerway was tall for her age and had stunning brown hair. Rosalie was younger and her hair shade was closer to Tyrion's, the same platinum blonde color. His mother was a traditional blonde and the man next to her had brown hair. This couldn't be Nerway's father, he told me he had left them a couple of years ago. Maybe Rosalie's?
