Walking onto the bus, there was always one empty seat next to the girl who never spoke a word. She would always watch the people pass, yet no one dared to say a word to her. Maybe it was her menacing appearence, or how she always had that dangerous feel to her. She sat five rows towards the back of the bus and would always sit at the window seat, that is of course only when it was raining out. On rainy days she would sit and watch the scenery pass by one the way home, one earbud in to ignore the world around her.
It was on one of these rainy days that a boy just happened to sit next to her.He wore a pair of ripped jeans, a white t-shirt, and a pair of old converse that were muddy due to the rain outside. Being the last one on the bus he had no choice but to sit in the empty seat next to the girl. Not wanting to get involved with the drugs that seemed to be passed around the bus, he took a chance to avoid it at any cost.
With no other choice the boy took a seat next to the girl cautiously. Usually, she wouldn't move or even glance at anyone, but when the boy sat down next to her he could have sworn she turned to gaze at him with her peircing blue eyes. The way her pale skin glowed under the lights of the city made him look at her with wonder, only to quickly turn away and change his thought process.
As the bus came to the fisrt stop he watched as some of the people filed off of the bus. He took a quick glance at the girl to notice she hasn't moved an inch," Probably not her stop" He thought as he turned his thoughts back to the music that played endlessly into his ears.
Stop after stop more and more people got off the bus. The boy would just sit and watch as their figures would disappear into the night. The girl beside him never moved, it didnt even see like she was blinking. he could barely tell if she was breathing. Her dark attire fit well with her pale skin and milk chocolate hair. everything about her was perfectly placed.
When the bus stopped at the most popular stop, the girl showed no interest in moving. The boy thought of it as his duty to unravel the strange phenominon of this girl. He has seen her so many times, but never saw her face or what stop she got off on. He had never seen her outside of the bus, and questioned if she even left the bus. "She might be homeless," He thought to himself while looking at her. His thoughts didn't make much sense as her appearence showed that she did indeed have some kind of money.
With his fathre at home and his mother out of the picture, the boy found it no issue to be a little late home. She couldn't live more than ten minutes from where he lived right?
While on the bus he watched his stop come and go. Besides the two of them, there were about four other people on the bus. Every now and then he would sneak glances at the mysterious girl, for she never even noticed. when he believed the last stop had come, he watched the four other people walk off the bus. The bus driver didn't say a word, yet continued to drive down the street.
With the boy being to the only person on the bus besides the girl, he heard the girl speak for the first time. "Hello," she said while still facing the window. Her voice wasn't soft and sweet like the other girls. Her voice wasn't rough, but sounded determined and wise. It intrigued him even more, as her voice almost brought peace to his ears.
"hey," The boy managed back. The girl didn't respond which gave him a spike of fear for the bus ride, until it came to a stop. The rain was thick and he could barely see anything, but the girl that stood there with a bag hanging over her shoulder. He let her pass him only to follow her outside onto the muddy side walk.
The boy could still not see her face, but he had noticed that she had taken the earbud out of her ear to hear all the sounds around them. "Be careful," she said softly against the rain," It's not safe here."
Her tone gave the boy a shiver,"Is this where you live?" He blurted out trying to get the attention of the girl, but there was only silence between them.
