The next morning the girl woke up to frost covering her window and numb legs from Sam laying across them all through the night. Getting up from her bed she walked over to her window and closed the curtains so that the once blinding light shining through them would not burn her corneas any longer. The new found darkness in the room took her a couple of seconds to adjust. After standing there mindlessly for a couple a seconds, she could finally see her line of path and made her way to the door that led into the hallway. One day she had hoped that she would have a nice place to herself, but today was not that day because who has that kind of money?
She sighed while walking into the kitchen and getting a bowl of Frosted Flakes, and sitting at one of the two stools that sit by the bar connected to the counter. After about five minutes her roommate walked in the kitchen and walked to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
"Good Morning," He said turning around to face her. Her response was only a nod of the head but it was enough for him to know that she was listening. " Kennedy talk to me." He said looking at her with pleading eyes.
"As Sally Ride once said,'I've spent my whole life not talking to people, and I don't see why I should start now." Kennedy said as she picked up her now empty and walked over to the sink washing it off and putting it on the counter to dry, then turning around to her roommate folding her arms with a questioning yet emotionless stern look on her face.
"It is good for the mind and heart, plus you are the only person who quotes people or history when they talk." He said while he put his hand on her shoulders not having much trouble as she is practically the same height as him."Don't you hate Having to listen to everyone but cant say anything back? Maybe let go sometimes, it's ok to do that you know,"He said slowly backing up out of the kitchen into the living room. "You know what? Today I am going out to take care of some things, and you are coming with me." He excitedly said while picking up his jacked from the couch.
"No-" Kennedy started to say but was cut of by Max walking away and yelling at her to get dressed. Deciding that it would be best to not argue, she walked into her room and changed into a sweater with a jacket on top, and a pair of black fleece leggings and boots, making sure that she was protected from the cold winter air that floated around outside. Picking up Sams leash she walked back out to the living room where Sam and her 'Oh so loving' roommate Max waited. Putting on Sams leash she walked out the front door grabbing her keys and phone as she passed the small table by the door, with Max behind her and Sam by her side.
After countless hours of Max's important tasks, they had finally stopped outside a small coffee shop. Deciding not to go inside with Max, Kennedy walked across the street to the park where she sat lazily down on the bench with Sam laying down at her feet. Lost in her seemingly never ending thoughts, she was caught off guard by Sam getting out of her grasp and running over to something across from her. With a grunt she got up from the cold metallic blue park bench and went off to follow Sam.
With Finally catching up to him, she had noticed that he was having a loving interaction with a person. Getting a closer look she noticed........
it was him.
It was the guy she had always seen but never new but always saw. He looked up at her with his mossy green eyes, he seemed to look just as surprised as she was.
"Oh..uh is this your dog?" He asked sitting up from petting Sam.
"Uh yes, I apologize." Kennedy stated, putting the leash back on her adventurous dog.
"It's quite alright, accidents happen."
