DAYS LATER

Roman and Bonnie's journey surprisingly didn't take a toll on the Salvatore.
It was almost like one of his meetings with the original brothers before they moved to
New Orleans, he was gone for a few days and back like nothing happened. 
Except something did happen, Caroline's mother died.
Elena and Stefan had quickly explained the predicament to Roman, Caroline turned her humanity off.
Now the twins and Elena were going to have to bring her back.
"Roman, Roman we have to go!"
Stefan exclaimed grabbing his brothers arm.
"What? What happened?"
Roman gaped at the doppelgänger and his brother.
"Caroline has Sarah."
"Sarah as in our niece Sarah?"
Stefan gave a nod to Roman who groaned angrily.
"Let's go save the last living member of our family shall we?"

"Roman you're back! As soon as you solve one problem you're dragged into another. I'm making margaritas. You want one?"
Caroline flashed a winning smile at the twin.
He could see it in her eyes that she had in fact lost her humanity.
"I'll pass Care."
Roman smiled at her as if nothing was wrong.
"Where's Sarah?"
Elena asked boldly as Caroline rolled her eyes.
"I see Stefan filled you in on his big secret.
"Where is she, Caroline?"
Stefan asked softer.
"Not here. That would be stupid. She's with Liam. Say hi!"
Roman sighed running a hand through her hair. "Hello!"
A boys voice came over the phone next to Caroline.
"Caroline, that's Enzo's phone."
Roman's eyes widened in fear as he glanced to Elena.
The brunette gave a slight shake of her head, letting Roman know his love was safe.
"Sarah is helping Liam with his surgical skills."
Caroline giggled as Stefan and Roman gave each other a fearful look.
With the chaos Roman had been through the past three days the last thing he wanted to do was deal with a vampire who got trigger happy with her humanity switch.
Although Roman would never admit it, he was almost happy to be helping out his friends once again.
"Please, please don't hurt me."
Sarah's voice came over the phone making Roman wince.
"I don't want to do this!"
Liam's voice followed in panic.
"Duh. You're probably gonna get expelled,
and then found guilty of murder. That's why
I compelled you to do what I wanted."
Caroline laughed taking a sip of her drink.
"No! Please! Please!"
Sarah's voice screamed yet again.
"Look, Caroline. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you."
Stefan forced out trying to talk some sense into her.
"Obviously. I was pretty clear about that."
Caroline rolled her eyes.
"Look. I know that you can't feel it right now, Care, but if you kill Sarah, it's gonna haunt you forever. Trust me. I did it, and it sucks."
Elena tried to reason as well, only drawing a scoff from Caroline.
"I compelled a student to perform surgery on Stefan and Roman's niece, and you found a way to make this about you?
God, you truly have a gift, Elena."
Caroline rolled her eyes, Roman couldn't help but shrug his shoulders considering the blonde wasn't exactly wrong.
"Look at me, Caroline. What do you want me to do? You want me to leave town, I'll leave town. I'll stay as far away from you as possible. Just please let her go."
Stefan pleaded.
"I'll do it too Care, anything you'd like."
Roman added in, his eyes pleading with the blonde.
"That's the problem, Stefan. It doesn't really matter how far away you are. You're still you-- kind, loyal,"
She hopped off the bar stepping closer to Stefan. "Who, with one look, can convince me that I'm not crazy. That's the Stefan that I fell for, and that's the Stefan who can bring me back."
Caroline sighed looking to Roman.
"Then there's Roman who would do anything to protect his family, and is smarter then anyone in this town."
Caroline laughed, the way she said it was almost like she was making fun of Roman.
"Killing Sarah isn't gonna change that."
Stefan sighed.
"I know, that's why I'd rather just change you. Let go of that part of you boys."
Caroline grinned at them.
Roman's jaw dropped as his eyes widened.
"Caroline please, please."
Roman begged as she smirked at him.
"Caroline, what are you talking about?"
Elena asked softly, confusion written all over her face.
"If the twins want to save Sarah's life, all they have to do is shut their humanity off."
Caroline grinned, the three staring at her in terror.  "Why are you all looking at me like that? Do I need to repeat myself?"
Caroline tensely rose an eyebrow.
"Please Care, I can't leave Enzo."
Roman begged as Caroline scoffed.
"They aren't turning their humanity off."
Elena defended the petrified twins.
"Elena, Stefan unleashed himself from you months ago. He can think for himself now.
And Roman well, you suffered without Enzo for decades. I think you can go one more."
"It's not gonna happen, Caroline."
Stefan glared.
"Hey Liam?"
Caroline smirked picking up the phone.
"Caroline please! Please Care!"
Roman shouted.
"Cut out her spleen."
The blonde smirked paying no attention to the panicking Salvatores.
"Caroline!"
Elena exclaimed.
"Relax, she can live without a spleen."
Caroline glared.
Roman winced hearing his nieces pained scream.
"Hey Liam, remember that conversation we had earlier about being honest? Where are you?"
Stefan called out to the phone.
"Don't answer him, Liam."
Caroline glared at Stefan holding up the phone.
"Whitmore Medical."
The boys voice shook.
"Hey!"
Caroline seethed into the phone.
"Please don't hurt me!"
They heard Sarah plead once again.
"Elena go. Please."
Roman told the brunette.
The doppelgänger gave a weak nod speeding away.
"How's it going, Liam?"
"I think I'm gonna go into pediatrics!"
Liam's voice flowed through her phone.
"You know what? I changed my mind. Leave the spleen. Let's be a little bit more symbolic.
Take out her heart."
Caroline smirked at the twins each fearing for their niece's life.
Suddenly Stefan rushed at Caroline throwing her across the room.
She crashed into a table, breaking it instantly.
The elder Salvatore lunged for the phone, however Caroline shoved him down stabbing him through the stomach with a broken table leg.
Roman rushed to his brother pulling out the wood while Caroline picked up the phone.
"Liam, you still with me?"
Caroline asked taking the phone off the speaker.
"Kill her. Call me when it's done."
Caroline hung up with an annoyed scoff.
Suddenly Stefan's phone began to ring.
Caroline strutted over kicking Roman to the side as she took Stefan's phone.
Roman went to attack Caroline but Stefan grabbed his brothers arm shaking his head.
"Stefan's phone."
Care grinned at the boys.
"She's gonna let them die Elena!"
Stefan called as Roman pulled him to his feet.
Roman stepped forward a stray tear falling down his face as he stared at Caroline. 
"Please bring us back Elena."
Roman called to the phone as he closed his eyes.

Roman Salvatore was once again void of humanity, and now it was alongside his ripper of a twin and one of his best friends.

The town would be lucky if they still had residents by morning.
