"So first off this room is amazing! These computers are better than anything I've ever used!" Simon said in awe.
"Than why are you using your old laptop?" I laughed.
"What's wrong with Rusty? I mean she's old but he is hanging in there," Simon wiped a fake tear from his eye.
"Alright captain, explain this mess," I said pointing to the three giant computer screens with a bunch of crap I didn't understand.
"Okay. So, I hacked into the police database and their radio channels which is what you see on this computer on the far left. In the middle is a map of the city the green pin looking things are current 9-1-1 calls, the red is known gang and mafia hangouts, and the blue is the cop cars. This computer is running every single person phone calls, text messages, emails, etc. into this program I design. If one of the trigger words are mentioned the message will pop up for me to see and determine if it's worth bothering you. Your mom warned me not to send you to any low-level crimes because the cops can handle those."
"So, I'm just doing the police's job," I mumbled making Simon laugh.
"Anyways, see right here," he pointed to the middle of the map of our town. I nodded. "That is Kelic Park. You can do your homework there till I inform you of a crime. It's right in the middle of the town so you can get to any crime fast. Also, there is a picnic area where you can do your homework and a locker that you can put your stuff in. Your dad already called the park and got you the locker for one year. He has the key so you'll need to get that from him. Also, here's an earpiece for you. I can talk to you through that."
"I'm going to look like I'm talking to myself!"
"It's 2019, most people have earpieces or wireless headphones they talk through. Plus, people can mind their own beeswax"
"Simon," My mother fake coughed behind us.
"Yes, Ma'am?" Simon squeaked. I think my mother gave him a mini heart attack. I wanted to laugh but my mother was completely ignoring my presence. I think she is still mad at me.
"Are you finished here? I need my daughter for a moment," She said sternly. I hoped Simon would tell her no. Though most people don't tell my mother no. I doubt she even knows what it means.
"Yes, Ma'am," he answered formally.
"Good. Emma," She motioned for me to follow her. We walked out of Simon's 'evil laboratory' and into the weapons' room. "Here," She said with no emotion in her voice. She handed me two handguns, katanas (That somehow become pocket knives! Like, how?! What happened to physics and what not.), a whip, and a rifle. Wonder if I can get a hello kitty backpack to go with all this. My mother walked over to a cabinet and grabbed an anti-theft backpack. "Put your shit in here." How does she expect me to put a sniper in this backpack? I'm not a fucking wizard. I did what she said anyways but as I tried to stick the sniper in the bag somehow. My mother scoffed at me. She snatched it from me and took the gun apart.
"Thanks," I mumbled. She just rolled her eyes as I put it in my bag.
"Don't kill anyone. If you need to shoot someone do it to disable them not to kill them. Remember your training," My mother told me sternly.
"I know," I mumbled once again.
"Also," she grabbed my jaw and forced me to look at her. Anger filled her eyes. "Be home before midnight."
She forcefully let go of me making me stumble a bit. "Of course," I told her making sure not to look in her eyes.
"I thought I raised you better. You are so disrespectful." She told me. I don't know why but what she did next shocked me. I looked up at her and she punched me. It hurt less than cramps but still. I tasted a familiar metallic taste in my mouth. Blood. She definitely broke my lip open and left a bruise. Great. "Now, this is your suit." She said as if nothing happened. She pressed a button making an opening in the wall. The suit reminded me of the material from Dare Devil's suit and looked like Deadpool's suit design except with a more diamond shape eye. "Your father knows how much you like that foul-mouthed character from those comics you read so he designed you suit after him. I think it's ridiculous but he insisted." Of course, I liked Deadpool. He is hilarious and pansexual. Plus, I don't have time to watch tv or read a lot so comics are perfect.
