One Month Later...

"Maurice can you help me get these shoes down and then you can clock out." My manager Sandra asked and I nodded my head.

I got a job at footlocker about a week ago, I needed some type of income since money was tight. It had been a month since moving to Atlanta and it's been rough. We stayed with my mom friend for about a week before my mom got approved for some low income apartments also known as the projects. My mom found a job working at a daycare close to our place, that's what she did back home as well but it wasn't paying much and we were living pay check to pay check. We got food stamps and donations from churches to help with furniture.

"Aye M you ready?" Josh asked, Josh is my mom's friend Toya friend son. He helped me get this job.

"Yeah, you already clocked out?" I asked handing Sandra the boxes of shoes she asked for.

When I got off of work I decided to take a nap because I wanted energy to play ball right outside the complex I saw a couple of guys my age playing at .

** 2 Hours Later **

I got up & threw on my basketball shorts on with a white tee . I walked in to my mom cooking my favorite, chicken Alfredo . I gave her a hug and told her I'll be out playing basketball right at the court . "Alright , please be careful baby", she whined . "When am I not ?", I smirked and walked out the front door. While walking I spotted a group of girls that looked like they were studying at a picnic table. But in particular I spotted one girl , she was beautiful with glowing caramel skin thick long curly hair & a beautiful smile . I tried not to stare but it wasn't doing me any good until she looked at me & did a little wave and got back to her work .

"You trying join?" Some dude asked they were short handed one guy to play a game.

"Jayda look" My best friend China nudged me making me look up from my math book.
"What?" I asked looking up confused.
"He fine as hell." She nodded her head towards the light skin boy that stood close by.
Our eyes locked for a split second as I did a quick wave not wanting to be awkward since our whole table was looking at him now. He smirked a little after I waved before I looked back at my math book.

(China)

"Bitch school don't start to next week why are we studying when the sea is full right now." China said pointing out the obvious fact that the basketball court was full of guys either watching or playing ball.

"It's senior year girl I have to be on top of my work. I have to get into UCLA."

"I hear you, but can we study maybe Tuesday after we actually start classes." China said closing my book.

Deciding not to argue with her, I turned around sitting on top of the table to see what the games was looking like.

"Damn that boy fine." Another girl at our table said pointing out the boy I waved at earlier as he pulled his shirt over his head.

I mean she was right though, he is fine as hell

I mean she was right though, he is fine as hell. I stared at his abs as sweat beads dropped downed his tattoo covered body. I slightly bit my lip watching him ball out on everybody on the court. The crowd went crazy when he crossed this dude over making him fall. His eyes meet mine again and he winked at me just before shooting the ball from half court and the ball went in. Show off , I thought to myself even though I found it extremely attractive.

I grabbed my phone hearing it ringing in my purse. "Hey momma." I answered.

"Jayda do you not see the street lights on?" My mom asked.

"I was going to stay the night at China's"

"No we have church in the morning, she can come over here but hurry up and come home." She said just before hanging up.

I rolled my eyes irritated, I was probably the only 17 year old that had to be home on a Saturday night at pm.

"I have to go, do you want to come over?" I asked China gathering my things.

"Shit right now?" She asked looking at her clock.

"Yeah you know how my parents are."

"Let me call my mom but I'll start walking you home." China said pulling her phone out.

I looked over at the court one last time but the boy wasn't there no more, I didn't even realized he had left.
