Jayda
[2 weeks later] Late October
Sitting in first period English, I looked over my Algebra worksheet to prepare for my test next period. Catching my attention Maurice sat a Starbucks cup on my desk Iced White Chocolate Mocha. He also sat a banana nut muffin, my favorite. "Thanks." I slightly smirked. He had been bringing me breakfast every morning, ordering lunch and carrying my books to most of my classes.
Maurice pulled his chair out moving closer to me. He had been extra nice the last two weeks. We never was not cool but I had put him back in friend zone because I didn't want to end up getting hurt.
"They was talking about you on ESPN last night."
"Man I know, my mom told me... I was at work so I haven't seen it yet but a small clip." He said keeping his eyes on me.
"Are you nervous about tomorrow?" I asked referring to his first basketball game.
"I'm never nervous." He shrugged making me smack my lips at his cockiness. He laughed at my reaction before speaking again. "Naw honestly a little nervous, not about winning or losing. But this my final year playing high school ball and I have a lot on my mind as far as the future go so I'm more nervous about that."
Before I could respond our English teacher was walking by our section handing out the assignment for the day. A boy sitting on the other side of Maurice started talking about basketball with him. I was a little taken back that he was actually admitting that he was nervous. Maurice always seem to be so confident and he rarely shared his feelings.

Sitting on the bleachers I watched the boys basketball team practice. I was waiting on my mom to pick me up since I had cheer practice tonight.
"You think this one cute?" China asked coming into the phone view with a new outfit on. We had been on FaceTime for 15 minutes trying to help her pick her outfits for her weekend with Cash her boyfriend.
"Yes China you look cute in everything." I responded truthfully.
"Don't hype me up now."
"Girl I'm not but look at your side nigga." I flipped the camera on Josh who was at practice too.
"You petty... Mrs. Brown" she laughed it off.
"That the homie." I smirked feeling awkward even referring him as that.
"Bitch I know you lying." China laughed as my phone beeped.
"Chi let me call you back my mom here." I said before we said our goodbyes hanging up.
Grabbing my bags off the bleachers I headed for the door. Feeling my PINK duffel bag being grabbed from my hand I turned to see Maurice. "I got it." He put the bag on his shoulder and held the gym door open for me.
"You didn't have to help, you are practicing."
"We're finished." He shrugged grabbing my book bag as well. "That's you?" He asked pointing towards the Black Range Rover.
Nodding my head I open the backseat door letting him set the bags down. "Mom this is my friend Maurice."
"Hi Mrs. Wright, how are you?" Maurice smiled opening the passenger seat door for me.
"Hey sweetheart, you can call me Janine." She smiled making me scrunch my nose up a little. My mom was never this nice to people I introduced her too.
"Alright I'll talk to you later Jayda." He smiled closing my door. I can't lie he was looking fine as hell. "Nice meeting you Mrs. Janine"
"Friend huh?" My mom asked pulling off . I sigh not knowing exactly where this conversation is headed. "Yes friend."
