Jayda
"Shots up for my brother finally turning 18." Josh yelled holding up a Hennessy bottle.
Maurice wrapped one arm around my waist and with his free hand he lifted his bottle of Patron. Josh was throwing a small kickback for Maurice 18 birthday, so only select people were invited tonight. Today was a full long day, Maurice had a basketball game, we celebrated his birthday at Benihana's with his mom.
The small kickback was turning into a full blown party. Maurice was popular as hell already so of course word got out that Josh was throwing him something. Girls kept giving me stares as they would walk by. As days went on Maurice would show more public displays of affection.
"How does it feel to be 18 now?" I asked Maurice as we sat on the hood of his car. It was now 12:47am and his party was still going on but we decided to chill away from everyone before he dropped me off at home. My parents of course was working late.
"The same honestly, but I'm having a better birthday than I did last year."
"Well I'm glad." I hope off the hood of his car, opening the front door to pop the trunk.
"What are you doing?" He asked getting up as well.
I ignored his question to get the gifts I hid in his trunk before his basketball game earlier when he let me hold his keys. "It's not much but I just wanted to give you a little something for your birthday."
I handed him the gift bag. He smiled hugging me tight placing his soft lips on my forehead. "You haven't even looked yet." I laughed softly.
"It doesn't matter, I don't care about material shit. You thought about a nigga that's all that matters." He shrugged before opening the gift bag.
I had used money I saved up from helping my grandmother at her daycare or allowance from my parents to get him gifts. I had got him a Nike tech fleece, a new wallet, cologne and AirPods. It wasn't anything significant because we are still new and learning each other but I was glad Maurice was loving his gifts.
"Thanks baby." He grabbed my chin kissing my lips softly. He always sounded so sexy when he called me baby. "I actually have something for you too."
I scrunched my nose up confused. "It's your birthday though."
"Not anymore." He checked the time before grabbing some out his back seat and placing the gifts I got him in the car. "I want you to have this." He handed me his basketball jacket from school with his last name and jersey number on the back.
"Maurice don't y'all wear this on game days."
"Yeah but I want you to wear it for now on, so niggas know you mines." He but his bottom lip as he put the jacket on me.
"I'm your what?" I asked sarcastically, I knew where this was headed but I needed him to properly ask me. He's been hinting at it for the past week and I just been waiting on him.
"My girl."
"Are you asking?" I folded my arms, I was happy as hell in the inside because I been waiting for this moment but he needed to do it right. Niggas always trying to just claim somebody.
He smacked his lips before laughing. "Jayda do you want to be my girl?"
"Of course." I smirked immediately wrapping my arms around his neck. He didn't hesitate to kiss me. It was finally official, I was Maurice Girlfriend.
"Jayda come here!" My dad yelled snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Here I come." I hung up the Jacket Maurice gave me two weeks ago.
