Jayda
"Jayda hurry up!" My mom yelled from downstairs. She was waiting to drop me off to school.
"I'm coming." I yelled back but remained in my spot looking at myself in the mirror.
"Jayda dad said hurry up." My 10 year old brother said opening my door without knocking.
"What did I tell you about opening my door without knocking?" I rolled my eyes grabbing my backpack.
Deciding to keep it simple I wore some dark blue ripped skinny jeans, a red cropped shirt and some red fur sandals. I wanted to keep it simple today. I hurried to my mom bmw getting in the front while my brother thought it was funny to mess with me the whole ride to school.
"Have a good day sweetheart, love you." My mom yelled as I got out the car.
"Love you too." I waved and she finally drove off.
"Isn't that cute." Kenya chuckled like walking up next to me.
I rolled my eyes ignoring her. Kenya was the first person I ever got in a fight with freshman year. Her boyfriend at the time used to always flirt with me and I guess she felt threatened.
She made her self brush past me as we both entered the school. I decided to let it go because it was all so petty and this is senior year I only have 10 months before I'm done with high school.
I meet up with China before class since she wanted to finish tell me about her boy drama. China had an on and off relationship with her college boyfriend Rell. They fight like every other week about the dumbest shit.
Walking into first period English I noticed all the desk moved into a U shaped. "Take a seat anywhere." Mrs. Simmons said as she put a English book and syllabus on every desk. We never got around to do much yesterday since we played the icebreaker game.
Deciding to take a seat in the back so I could see the board better. I waited as the other students scattered in the room filling in the seats.
Class had already started and I jotted down a few notes of what Mrs. Simmons was tell us. "Mr. Brown late again, please don't make this a habit." I heard Mrs. Simmons say causing me to slightly look up noticing Maurice.
I quickly looked back down when our eyes meet. "Take a seat next to Mrs. Wright."
My stomach instantly started fumbling knowing he was about to sit next to me. I tried hard not to look, but his cologne lingered. He smelled so good, I looked over at him as he search his bag for something.
"Maurice right?" I asked already knowing that was his name.
He turned towards me as he nodded. "Yeah... your Jayda?"
"Umm.. Yeah." I stared into his eyes almost forgetting what I was about to ask. He looked so good. "Did you need a pen?"
"Oh yeah thanks." He have a small smile.
"You welcome." I smiled back.
We didn't talk anymore after that but I couldn't help but to look over at him every couple of minutes.
Maurice
I sat at a table alone for lunch since Josh had a different lunch than me. I opened the bag of Doritos I brought from home to eat. I didn't want school lunch and I didn't have money to buy the good lunch they did have. I wouldn't get my first check until Friday.
I scrolled down instagram looking at some of my old friends where up to. "Jayda please come, I'm not going without you."
I looked up as I heard Jayda's name seeing her walking with her friend from the park.
"I don't know, you know how my parents are."
"Just ask to stay the weekend at my house. " the other girl said walking up to my table.
"Oh umm... Are you holding these seats for anyone?" Jayda asked.
"Nah you good." I said watching her as she sat down across from me . Jayda started talking but she was so beautiful all I paid attention to was her face and the way she talked .
"...right?" , she finished her question looking at me for an answer . I felt defeated.
"I'm sorry what was you saying ?", I said still looking at her .
She laughed "I said I heard from a friend you just moved here right ?"
"Uh yea I did with my mom not too long ago" I said licking my lips . She did a slight giggle putting her head back in her book I didn't even see her pull out .
"You're beautiful", I said thinking out loud mentally cursing myself out for it .
She just looked up and tapped her friend , "Aw he thinks your beautiful" she gushed to China .
I laughed along with her friend , "I was talking to you" . Jayda blushed while looking at me .
"Thanks", she said after a while , putting her head right back in her book .
I think this was a start to a friendship. Maybe not.
