I could stay like this forever. Concealed from the world, with Noah's arms protecting me from the vicious predators that loom outside. We barely speak a word to one another. Then we hear the footsteps, around five pairs of feet stomping through the forest.

My eyes widen in terror. "Noah" i whisper. "The careers are outside."

He silently reaches for one of his belts and takes out two axes. I ready myself with the axe I found at the Cornucopia.

"How on earth did both of you not kill her? It wasn't that hard!" I hear Tiara growl. She sounds more hostile and angry than I have heard her since meeting her.

"Well you try firing an arrow at her head when the boy could see you and warns her?" I hear a boy. Probably from four. "Jack's incompetent at knife throwing though. That's why he has his sword"

I realise they are talking about us.

"Well Jack should have learned a few basic tips back in training" Ryan mimics the boy from four.

"Stop it, Ryan! At least he attempted to kill the stupid little bitch" Charley says. "You were too busy picking off the weaker opponents"

"Well at least we spent time training, Charley. What were these two doing again? Trying to get them together!" Ryan argues.

I can feel the sweat breaking out of the palm of my hand and starting to make the handle of my axe slide through my grasp. The careers want to kill me? And possibly Noah. well, they want to kill everyone but why us specifically? Jack and Tiara did spend quite a lot of time with Noah and myself but we still trained.

"Come on. Get a drink from the waterfall and then we find them" Tiara ends the argument and they carry on their journey.

After several minutes of silence, i breathe a sigh of relief. I don't know why, however. Maybe because they had finally gone but I have a sinking feeling about us being specific targets for the career pack.

"They are after us?" i ask.

"They won't touch you. I won't let them" Noah says defensively.

"It's getting rather dark outside. We will have to make do with what supplies we have for a decent night's sleep" i change the topic. It worries me when Noah has a fighters talk in him, because the Noah i know wouldn't hurt a fly.

"Sure" he replies and hands me the blanket and the raincoat. I place the raincoat on the ground, made a little comfier by the layer of pine needles that have been swept in by the torrent of water that conceals us. The blanket will keep us warm later and we will use the backpacks as pillows if necessary.

With sorting out sleeping arrangements and who is on watch at night, we cover a few hours. Before long, the national anthem of Panem plays through a speaker and the photos of the fallen tributes appear in the sky. Through the gap next to the waterfall, we just manage to see.

District 3 female, District 3 male, District 4 female District 5 female, District 6 male. District 6 female, DIstrict 8 female, District 10 male, District 12 female, District 12 male.

It feels so weird that the people I was with only a few days ago are now dead and on their ways home in a simple wooden box. I think of the little girl from three. How because of her, Noah taught me how to light a decent fire. She seemed so small and innocent and was so easily murdered.

"Noah? Did you kill anyone?" i whisper to him.

"No, why do you want to know?" he raises his eyebrow to me. I have to tell him.

"It's just that I did. But i was on the ground and she had a spear so i killed her and now i'm a murderer" i admit.

"Leigha, i would rather let you kill someone than let them kill you. And me knowing that I couldn't save you from them would mean..." he trails off. ,"Just...Just go to sleep. I'll wake you in a few hours"

"Night" i gently kiss the end of his nose before falling asleep. My hand locked in his.
