This one is set a few months after 'He's sick!?' but you don't need to have read the other one to understand this one.
The request came from qwertyuiop1234abc : Ooooh do one where peter is sick and goes to school/patrol/training only to faint.
We've got some concerned Fury in this one and less interteam interaction. Enjoy.
When Peter woke up on Saturday with his head feeling like it was stuffed full of cotton wool. He desperately wanted to go back to sleep and pretend that his alarm hadn't just roused him from his peaceful slumber but, alas, that one wasn't on the cards for today.
Peter crawled out of bed and shivered. Despite the fact that he could feel the sweat covering his body and sleepwear, he felt uncomfortably cold. He had a fever. Great Just great. It didn't make the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. had planned a three hour training session for the team (starting in less than an hour) anymore of an enticing prospect. Quite the opposite, actually.
The young hero stumbled about getting dressed and preparing to leave. He wasn't sure what the official policy was for going into work sick was for superheroes but he did know that an angry Fury or Ava breathing down the back of his neck for skipping training was something that he did not, under any circumstances, want in his life. Anyway, he would be fine. It would cause to many problems for everyone else if he didn't turn up. With that thought in his mind, he leapt out of his bedroom window and into the early morning breeze.

Twenty minutes later he was crouched on the tricarrier, felling slightly better for the wind chill but infinitely more fatigued by the journey than he should be. He made his way through locked doors and corridors to get to the training room. Head spinning and unable to find feeling in his legs, Spider-Man entered the training room, waving a hand in greeting. He was the last member of the team to arrive but he did, at least, manage to arrive five minutes before the official start time.
The first half training session could have gone worse. It might even have been described as good if not for Spider-Man looking to all the world as though he would collapse after a gentle nudge. There weren't any arguments or fights between team members, but there was a slight tension that the arachnid was trying desperately trying to ignore. The team were all sneaking glances at their leader throughout the session.
It was half way through the session, when Fury had called a short break, that everything began its tumbling decent downhill. Fast.
The team leader had only taken two steps towards the wall where he had stowed his water bottle when he collapsed, the fire inside him burning away his last threads of consciousness.
The dull thud of a teammate hitting the floor had four and a half pairs of eyes glued to the figure on the floor until Fury had the brilliant idea of checking to see if the teenager was injured. He swept across the room to asses the red and blue clad hero and his face flickered briefly with concern as he pealed the mask back and saw the sickly completion of the child. It was obvious that he was very ill, if the fever and lack of injuries were anything to go by.
Fury scooped up the child before him, he may have been considered more of an adult if he had actually called in sick; turned to the rest of the team, telling them to continue training on their own; and made his way to the sick bay with the hero held protectively against his chest.
It should be noted that Fury wasn't concerned at all for the boy. No. That would be absurd. That being said, the director had to fight the urge to smile as said boy curled into his chest, savouring the embrace.

The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was anxious. There. He admitted it. One must remember that, of course, Fury was only worried that one of his subordinates had collapsed in training. It had absolutely nothing- nothing meaning no connection- to do with any form of fatherly concern or paternal responsibility. Why would you even think that?
Despite Fury's insistence that his hovering (not hovering, simply checking in every couple of minutes) was purely out of a professional duty, he was forced to admit to himself that he cared more for Peter than he let on. He couldn't help himself from asking the medical personnel about Peter's condition until they threatened to bar his entry to the ward. He was told that the spider was fine, repeatedly. Was it so wrong to ask for more information?

When Peter woke up in the early evening, it was a battle to sit up and open his eyes. He recognised his surroundings as the tricarrier infirmary. His mind was sluggish as it tried to processed what had happened: he was sick, he went to training, he was in the infirmary, there was an angry Fury standing over him with a one eyed glare. There was an angry Fury standing over him with a one eyed glare.
Fury didn't say anything. Peter tried meet his gaze but immediately looked away, unable to face the spy. He was a little surprised that his team weren't there to lecture him, however, Fury's presence indicated that he wanted to be the first to scold him.
Peter received the expected tongue lashing but it wasn't as harsh or as punishing as he had come to expect. Instead, the message came across as though Fury were worried about him.
Towards the end of the lecture the team filed in and ended up being dragging the sick teammate into a conversation about taking care of himself and taking a day off if he was too ill. He was exhausted but manage to remain coherent enough to hold the conversation.
Arrangements were made to take him home, no one wanted to risk him loosing consciousness while swinging home. Before he entered his house, he was forced to swear to his team that he would call in sick the next time he was this ill. He had barely manged to make it to bed before he was curled up under the covers, fast asleep.
So, here it is. I hope you liked it.
Sorry for the log hiatus. Lock down has been putting a lot of stress on me and I've just not been in the mood to write. When I did finally decide to type up a few chapters, Wattpad decided to delete all of my drafts. I then got writers block again and now we're here.
If you have any oneshot requests, I'd love to hear them.
