Chapter 4: meant to be

It was fourth period now and I was at my locker, looking into the small mirror that I have placed inside there. Since I didn't have time this morning, I was still bare faced and very much unpresentable. My hair was a messy clump, which was why I put it in a ponytail but circumstance made me take it off.

Ugh, just thinking of how I must've looked when I was talking to Ray made me cringe. Hair a mess and with bags under my eyes, God, what a nightmare. I would never understand how he managed to keep that annoying smile on his face.

I did my brows first, then carefully, I used the eyeliner. This was always what I feared to do the most. The idea of having a glitch that could cause a poke in my eye with black ink didn't seem too appealing. Then, I applied mascara so that my lashes would look longer and thicker. Lastly, I put on a thin layer of lip gloss to make my lips shine.

Closing the cap, I placed it back in the box I kept all my makeup in. It was nothing much, just enough for eyes and my lips, adding a concealer in there to cover my eye bags and occasional zit.

When I was organizing my locker, there was a bang to the side of me - the side that was blocked by the locker door - but I knew that someone was leaning on it. Immediately I had a bad feeling that it was Ray wanting to finish whatever he was going to say earlier; I left rather urgently after all.

He was calling out to me and asking me to wait for him, but I cast his voice aside and focussed on getting away. I could still hear the calling of his voice, willing me to stay still but I discarded my conscience and blended into the crowd.

I was panicking internally that he somehow managed to find my locker and came to pester me some more, but then I took some of the logic left in my brain to tell myself that it wouldn't be possible. There were thousands of lockers in this school, there was no way he could find mine so easily.

So with that thought, I sucked it up and closed my locker. Taking a deep breath before I faced the ultimate truth, I lifted my head and felt tears of joy making their way to my eyes uninvited.

I threw my arms around Daniel's neck and hugged him tightly, pecking his cheek and fitting my face in the crook of his neck, inhaling his scent of aftershave and lime.

"Wow, aren't you affectionate today," he joked, rubbing my back before tangling his hand in my hair.

I licked his neck teasingly before pulling away, "I just missed you."

He took my hand and pulled me along. "Oh really. Didn't I just Skype you during my IT class?"

"But that was so long ago," I whined, "besides, my phone was under the table most of the time because of that old hag. She seriously, seriously needs to get laid."

Daniel grinned roguishly, his eyes gleaming, "I had no complains towards that. I must admit I quite enjoyed the view."

I nudged him away, "and what did the rest of your classmates say when they saw that apparent view. I'm sure they had similar opinions?"

"Nothing," he answered firmly, "because they didn't see a thing. I was sitting at the back, way back. Did you honestly think that I would share my girl with anyone else, not a chance in hell," he scoffed, his hold on my hand tightening. "You're mine, all mine."

"I love you, you perverted nutbrain," I mumbled honestly, hugging his side to me.

He reciprocated my action, placing a kiss at the top of my head, "I love you more. Now go," he shooed me away when we reached my next class, tapping my ass as a form of farewell, "we don't need you being late."
