Chapter 6: making things right

"You took you time."

"Daniel!" I exclaimed, going up to give him a hug but he didn't return it, "I thought I said I'll call you. What are you doing here?" I was in glee that I didn't have to wait until tomorrow to see him again. I really was smitten with him.

Scowling, he pushed me away, looking displeased and very much disgusted. "Don't touch me," he grumbled, and took a step away, "who knows what you and what's-his-name did."

"Me and Ray?" I asked, astonished that he would think that I'd do anything with Ray, much less cheat on him. "What about him, Daniel. We only went for coffee. You know my favourite place?"

"Coffee doesn't take five hours, Rae!" he exploded and ran a hand through his hand, frustrated, "I was here since after school and waited for you, and not only you didn't come back, you also took hours." His hair was already a mess from the amount of times he went through it while waiting. "Be honest, what did you guys do," his voice softened and there was a look of vulnerability I could see burning in his eyes.

I hated cheaters, period. There was no going around that.

My heart clenched and I went up to him and placed a hand on his cheek, he leaned into my touch. "We didn't do anything, I promise," I said with sincerity, "we just talked."

"Are you sure," he whispered, "please don't lie to me. I love you."

"And I love you too. I cross my heart, we just talked and we didn't do anything more than talk." I stared deep into his eyes, "I would never cheat on you, I would never purposely hurt you. You mean too much to me."

His eyes were calculating, trying to figure out if I was lying or telling the truth. Finally, his resolve broke. The fire in his eyes diminished and realization crosses his face at what he accused me of. He pulled me into a crushing hug, burying his head into the crook of my neck. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay. We all make mistakes," I said softly, slowly guiding him into the living room and onto a couch. I sat down and pulled him after me, making him lie his head on my lap. He turned to hide his face in my...ehem, and I played with his hair.

When he finally calmed enough, he turned to me. I leaned in to kiss him, he returned it. "Do you want to stay?" I tugged at his hair, "We can Netflix and Chill," I joked, but bit his lip and he groaned.

"When's your parents coming back."

"Late," I said, already pulling him along. "It's fine, they don't check in on me. We have basically already gotten away with it."

Daniel laughed and his shoulders shook, "perfect."

Once we were in my bedroom, he took off his shirt and changed into one of his comfier shorts he left at my place, and he climbed under my sheets. I did the same, wearing the shirt that he just removed and some booty shorts, then taking my bra off skilfully from under the shirt.

"Faster, babe. I want to cuddle," he whined like a baby and I had to grin. Quickly brushing my hair and after applying some moisturizer, I left to him. "Took you long enough."

"Don't I always," I hummed. He says that all the time when I take longer to get ready for bed than he does, but I know he doesn't mind watching me get ready. I shooed him over to the right side of the bed and he pouted at me before complying.

I got in and pulled the duvet up to my chest, inhaling the freshly washed scent of laundry detergent and the sun, mixing with a hint of Daniel. Smiling in content, I took my laptop from my bedside table and turned it on, placing it in the middle of both of us as he tugged me closer.
