Chapter 2

Braelyn

I can't help the smile that slips on my face as I see Kate's Jeep pull in the driveway, I hear mama call up "Sweetheart, Kate is here" 

I grab my bag. "I'm coming down now"

I hit the bottom step and mama stops me at the door "Seriously Braelyn Kellie you call me when you get there" 

I kiss her on the cheek "I promise mama as soon as we get there I will call"

She is so going to kill me when she finds out about daddy being there but at the moment I really don't care, if I have to go behind her back to see my own father then I will damn well do it.

I climb into the passenger seat as Kate grins "alright now to pick up the twins and we are Nashville bound baby" I grin at her "oh you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to tonight, I love my mama but just this once I am doing something that I want and I want to see Brantley Gilbert"

She shakes her head as she pulls out of the drive "what does your mom have against BG anyway?? B you can tell me and it will stay in this Jeep between you and me I swear"

I give her a serious look "Okay fine but Kate it cannot get back to my mother that I told you about it because for whatever reason she separated that life from this one and if her balance gets shifted then it's forbidden to talk about and she will literally ground me for the rest of my life"

Kate glances over at me "Braelyn I swear to you that this stays right here, I won't open my mouth about it to anyone else"

I nod at her and blow out a breath "Okay so Brantley Gilbert is my father, I haven't seen or spoken to him since I was 10 years old, and my mother will not let him near me, I don't know why but for some reason she won't let him have anything at all to do with me and she doesn't know that I know he's tried, I mean I get why she wouldn't before he got sober but after that, I just don't get it"

She blinks for a moment "wow B I wasn't expecting that to be the answer but honestly, it makes sense and come to think of it you do have his eyes and apparently his talent because God I love your mama to death but she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if she tried, you had to get your musical talent from somewhere"

I laugh smiling at her "my daddy is the reason I can even play the guitar, I was six years old I came through the house with his old guitar and I looked at him and said, "Daddy I want to play it" so we sat there for hours with him teaching me how to play." 

She grins "awwwwh that is so sweet"

I feel a little relieved that I don't have to hide this from her anymore "God Kate, you have no idea how relieved I am to not have to keep that from you anymore like she won't let me acknowledge that he's ever been apart of my life, you that teddy bear that even now when I'm going somewhere overnight that I take it with me?"

She nods "Yeah" 

I grin at her "well my dad gave it to me on the day I was born, it sings when you press the stomach, it's a recording of him singing, it's the only physical link to my father that I have left so even now I take it everywhere, mama tried to take it once after we moved here, I cried for three days until she gave it back"

"Wow" she pulls up to Lizzie and Josie's and presses the horn to let them know we are here 

I give her a look "yeah"

Kate nods "Alright B as promised this is between you and me" 

I smile at her "thanks Kate, I'll tell them just not yet"

The twins get in the back seat Liz smirks "my girls who is ready for a damn good time tonight??" 

I grin back at her "hell yeah girlie this is so going to be epic"

We crank up the radio as Kate pulls out and hits the interstate heading to Nashville. Oh, daddy, you are in for a surprise tonight... He definitely is not expecting to see me for the first time in almost 6 years.

I hope if one of the guys recognizes me that they will catch daddy's reaction on video, I would bet it'd be Ben or Jesse or PJ that would recognize me and I know for a fact that the first two would video the reaction.

Next chapter Braelyn sees her father again... I have a cute little moment between them already planned out.
