"I still don't know why I let you convince me that it would be a good idea running one last mission, and working with the "New Umbrella", or whatever it is." I muttered. The woman in front of me sighed.
"Mrs. Kennedy, you've read the file. We aren't the Umbrella you knew. We owned up to what we did, and we intend to help clean up our mess." She said. Now, I sighed.
"Yeah, well...if you've been through what I have at the hands of Umbrella, you wouldn't be so quick to trust a "New Version" of it, either." I mumbled. She placed a hand on mine.
"I've read your file. I know what Umbrella did to you. And I am so sorry that that happened to you. But we intend to make it right." She said. I sighed again and looked out the window of the car we were in. We were in the Bayous of Louisiana. It wasn't exactly picturesque out here. "...If you're worried about missing time with your daughter, please don't be." She said. I looked back to her.
"My daughter is a baby. She's one year old. If I don't come back from this..." I couldn't finish my sentence.
"You will! We're sending you in for reconnaissance. You gather as much information about what is going on in the Baker Estate as you can, then get out. We'll send in an entire team after you. Nothing can go wrong!" She said. I turned my attention back to the window.
"...For my family's sake, I hope that you're right." I mumbled.
...She wasn't. Not by a long shot.
They dropped me off a good distance from the property and left. I put on my head set that had an earpiece on it, attached my holster with my handgun, loaded it, and went in. I opened the door slowly, aiming my gun as I walked in. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary in here. I turned the small flashlight on that was also on my head set, and began searching the guest house of the Baker Estate. It looked like any old abandoned house, nothing out of the ordinary so far. I walked farther in and made it into the kitchen. It smelled disgusting. It took everything I had just to keep from gagging. I saw a pot sitting on the table, so I lifted the lid. I gasped dropping it back on and backing away. I ran to the other side of the kitchen and vomited on the ground.
"Carter, what did you find?!" The woman from before asked. I finished dry heaving, took a breath, and said:
"Some disgusting mess in a pot. Sorry." I muttered, and continued on my way. I found stairs that led to the attic. I walked up and, seeing a button, pressed it. Nothing happened. I shrugged, and walked back downstairs. I made my way into the living room, seeing a couple pictures. I looked closely at the fireplace, and saw a pull chain in it. I pulled it, and a small door opened behind me! "Woah..." I muttered, and crawled through it. I came upon a hole in the floor. I climbed down the ladder, and when I turned...I screamed, backing into the ladder.
"Carter! What's wrong, are you alright?!" Now that was Leon. He had insisted on monitoring how I was doing, which I didn't complain about.
"Body....body down in this hole in the floor..." I mumbled as loud as I could, staring at the poor person in front of me.
"Can you identify if it's any of the missing?" The woman asked.
"N-no...I can't." I stuttered, taking a few deep breaths to calm myself.
"That's alright. Can you continue on?" She asked. I took one more breath, and nodded.
"Yeah...yeah I can." I said, and moved forward. I ended up having to swim through water, but I made it to an area with a cell. "Hey, I think I'm in the basement." I said. I went to the cell, and looked in. "Hey, there's someone in a cell here! I found someone!" I said.
"That's great, babe! Can you get in?" Leon asked. I tried to open the door, but there was a chain locking it.
"I gotta find bolt cutters, but I should be able to." I said. That's when I heard something behind me. I froze and slowly turned. There was a big man looking around behind me! When he saw me, he smiled, cruelly.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Looks like little Evie was right! Another one for the family!" He said, in a thick Southern accent. I pulled my gun out.
"Freeze!" I called. He didn't stop. "I said, freeze!" I yelled. He kept coming, so I fired at him. It didn't even faze him! He just laughed.
"Ooh, you've done it now, girl!" He said and began coming towards me faster!
"Crap!" I said, and began running the other way. "Crap, crap, crap!!!" I said.
"Carter! What's happening!" Leon asked.
"I'm being chased by a maniac!" I cried, rounding a corner.
"Carter, get out of there!!" He yelled.
"What on Earth do you think I'm doing!!" I yelled back, squeezing between a shelf and a wall. I came to an area with a couch, and quickly made my way into the room beside it. There was no door in either room! I had found a dead end!!! "No, no, NO!!!!" I screamed, and began ramming the wall with my shoulder, trying to put a hole in it. Leon was screaming in my ear piece for me to turn around and run, but, just as I was about to, the man grabbed my shoulder, and turned me around.
"Welcome to the family, Sweetheart!" He said, and punched me, knocking me to the ground. The last thing I heard was Leon screaming my name, before the man knocked me out with his boot.
