"And what are you running from then" he asks, a smile painted on his face.

"Everything" I admit.

"Your past will catch up to you one day, you know" he plays with the piercing one his lip.

"I know" I whisper.

"All the little pieces" he breaths.

"All the little pieces" I repeat.g

The conversation seems so long ago. I now lay on the grass, Luke in a deep slumber next to me.

I couldn't sleep. I never can.

Instead, I stare up at the starry sky, recalling Luke and I's conversation.

I didn't tell him the exact reason I ran, I don't think I could tell him just yet. It's not that I didn't trust him, it's just that I can't.

The breeze picks up and whips my hair back and forth. I pull the jacket tighter around me.

It was nice to have a friend. Was Luke a friend? It was confusing.

I haven't had many 'friends', at least since Taylor left.

"Mmm" Luke mumbles in his sleep.

I look over at him, at his face. The ring on his lip, his small freckles that are barely visible, his unruly hair.

I take this time to notice how attractive he actually is.

My eyes flutter shut as I think about my day. I eventually drift off to sleep.

-------

"I'm not going anywhere!" I sob, yelling at the one and only person I ever talk to.

"I don't want you!" She screams, knocking her phone off the table in frustration.

"Don't say that!" I yell.

"I don't want you! why don't you run away like your sister?"

"Why Lexi?"

"Why Lexi?"

"Why Lexi?"

-------

"Agh!" I sit up, regaining my composure in the dark of the night.

My eyes quickly adjust to my surroundings and my breathing is ragged.

I rub my temple and put my head in my hands.

Why do I always have to be reminded of my past. I'm trying to move on, why won't it let me?

"Lexi?" Luke mumbles, rolling over to face me. He shuffles around a bit before sitting up.

"You okay?" He rubs his eyes with the back of his hands.

"Yah, I'm fine" I give him a reassuring smile.

He looks up at the sky.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" He asks.

I gaze up at the stars. It really was perfect.

Even though he didn't know a thing about my past, Luke was here putting up with me. And for that, I was grateful.

"Yah it is"

"Do you want to go somewhere?" He breaks the silence.

"Uh, what time is it?" I ask, I know it is very late, or very early.

"Why does it matter?" He grins.

"Because, there is nothing to do at this hour!" I say.

"Sure there is"
