Little did I know that the direction I was walking in was the direction Luke had went, I didn't even notice as I walked past the diner where we ate.
I didn't even notice the familiar alleyway Luke went down as he left.
As he left, shortly after our second encounter.
The cool wind whips my unruly hair around my face, and makes my cheeks flush.
I assumed that by now it wouldn't be so windy but, I was wrong.
To amuse myself as I walk, I flick my tongue around in my mouth.
I pass by many shops, many cafés and many many people.
Some of them give me a look as I walk past, a look of wonder in they're eyes. Some don't even notice me at all, I'm just another passerby that comes and goes.
My shoes hit the pavement one after another as I come up to a building. There is yet again a wooden bench for me to sit on.
I place myself onto the bench and sit my bag next to me.
I watch as life goes on around me.
I should probably get a bus ticket and leave this city, the city that holds too many memories.
A girl sits down on the bench next to me. She looks like she is a bit older than I am. Taylor's age.
I glance at her then back to the road for awhile before she notices.
"Excuse me?" She asks.
"Hmm?"
"Your staring at me" she scoffs.
"Oh sorry" I say, I feel my cheeks heat.
She rolls her eyes, and turns her attention back to the streets.
"I'm Scarlett"
"Lexi"
"What are you doing anyways?" She asks me, not turning her head my direction.
"I ran away" I smirk, I was kind of proud I could say that.
"I know what that like" she looks at me. Her grey eyes sparkle in the evening sun.
"You do?" I direct my gaze to her boots.
"Yah, I'm a runaway myself" she smiles.
"I'm from North Carolina" she looks out into the distance. I could tell she was getting lost in thought.
Probably memories.
"Maybe you could give me some advice then?" I tell her.
"Like what"
"What to do maybe?" I say. "Like where do I go?"
She half-laughs at me.
"Oh honey, you'll find something to entertain you"
I smile at her.
Like what?
What would entertain me?
"Find you a boy or something" she licks her bottom lip.
"But, listen I have a bus to catch" she stands.
"Take my number, maybe we'll cross paths again someday" she pulls a pen out of her pocket and proceeds to write the digits on my palm.
And then within a matter of seconds she is running down the street.
I take a look at the smudged ink on my hand and smile.
"Maybe we will" I say to myself.
The sun is setting and it's getting rather dark. I needed to find somewhere to sleep, I wasn't going to sleep on a bench again.
