Lexi" Luke whispers to me.
I open my eyes and take in my surroundings. I'm still sitting on the moving train. I'm still uncomfortably placed with strangers all around me.
"Mhmm?" I look over at him. He seems as if he had been sleeping as well. Which makes me realize, I had slept without having a bad dream about my past.
Maybe coming clean to Luke helped me in some sort of way.
"We're almost there" a small smile tugs at the corners of his mouth. I feel my stomach rumble slightly. I hadn't eaten since Luke took me to that diner. I didn't eat much anyways but, I should probably eat soon.
"Hungry?" Luke asks. He must have heard my embarrassing grumble.
"A little" I say shyly.
"They serve food on the train" he informs me.
"Oh"
"Do you want something?"
"I guess so" my cheeks flush.
I lean my head back into the seat and listen as Luke asks a lady for something to eat.
She returns moments later with two pieces of toast and a glass of water, which she hands to Luke and he hands to me.
I take one of the pieces and gesture for him to take the other.
"What time is it?" I ask after taking a few bites from my piece of toast.
"About twelve thirty in the morning" he answers.
I stare out the window at the trees we pass. At the sun shining down on everything. At the clouds sitting amidst the blue sky. It seemed so peaceful and so calm.
If only everything could be so simple.
The moving train comes to a halt and the voice on the speaker announces that we are indeed in North Carolina.
I look at Luke, before raising myself out of my seat and making my way down the aisle behind him.
Once we climb down the steps, off the train, I take in the sights around me. I breath in the fresh air, the fresh new beginning I had right in front of me.
There are many buildings around me but, not as many people walking around as there would be in New York.
It's quite nice actually.
"We're here" Luke grins at me.
"We are" I say.
"What do you wanna do first Lexi?" He asks me.
"I don't know" I truly didn't, I actually just wanted to do nothing. I was here, that was enough for me.
"Excuse me, excuse me" a voice from behind me speaks up into our conversation.
I turn around to be greeted by a dark haired boy, who looked like he hadn't slept in days and, he was bouncing up and down like he had drank ten energy drinks.
"I'm Calum. And.. And I can't remember where I left my keys" he continues talking.
"Okay?, what do you want us to do about it?" Luke tells the guy.
"Well.. Could you help me find them?" He continues to bounce around.
"No mate, I'm sorry" I can tell Luke is trying not to laugh. Who was this guy? And why was he asking us to help him find his 'keys'?
"Oh wait-" Calum begins and, reaches his hand into his back pocket.
"Here they are" he pulls out a shiny ring with a few silver keys dangling from it.
