I follow Luke onto the train, examining each and every person we pass in the aisle until we take our seats. I slide in next to the window.

I knew I would have to hold up my end of the bargain. I would have to tell Luke about my past.

Even though he had just completely opened up to me, I still wasn't quite ready to tell him about my previous life.

"Okay Lexi, it's your turn" he gives me a sympathetic smile, as if he knows what's going on in my head.

I turn away and look out the window. I inhale a deep breath, feeling the tears pricking at my eyes even though I hadn't even started speaking.

"He left us babies" my mother stares at the floor while speaking to my sister and I.

"Why mommy?" I ask in my little-girl voice.

I didn't know why my daddy was gone, or why he left me. I just wanted everything to be okay.

I look over at Taylor. She looks so shocked, almost lifeless as she gazes straight forward.

"I don't know but, I'm here and I love you both"

"My mom was strong for us, she managed to take care of us both on her own. But, at night she would still weep in her room, I was only four and I had no idea what to think, neither did Taylor so, we had to just go on with our lives." Luke watches me intently as I speak of it all.

"He was gone four years, but one day he just showed up at our door. My mom being the desperate person she had been for so long, let him right back into our lives as if nothing had happened. I was upset at her and my dad. I was eight and my life has been so upside down for so long."

"Tell me, tell me Jack, that you aren't with another woman" the furious lady asks the drunk man.

"I'm not, I'm not" he slurs.

"Who do you think you are acting like this!, I've sacrificed everything for your sorry ass!" She spits.

"Calm down damnit, my head hurts" he tells the angry women.

"Get out. Get out of my life and this time don't you come back!" She yells and points toward the door.

He stands. "I won't" and with that he walks out the door, leaving the women on her knees, sobbing into her hands.

"My dad was a complete drunk after he came back, and my mom did everything for us. While he slept around with another women. My mom knew for a long time but, she wouldn't let herself believe it.." I look at Luke, he is completely silent, so I continue talking.

"He had only been back with us for two moths. And after that night, my mother lost it. She threw herself at men and she became a club dancer. She would come home late every night drunk, drunker than my dad had ever Been. Taylor was left to take care of herself and me. We still managed to go it school and put on a fake smile everyday. And at the end of the day I knew Taylor would be there for me.. Always." The tears burn in my eyes but, I fight them back.

"We were strong together, she helped me and I helped her. When I started high school, that's when everything changed. Taylor became more and more distant everyday. And I got pushed around at school more and more everyday, I was so completely broken."

"What's wrong Lexi?" The tall blonde girl taunts the innocent little brunette.

The two stand face to face in the empty hallway.

"Nothing.. I.." The girl stutters.

"Are you upset?" The blonde smirks.

"Upset that Taylor couldn't pick you up today?"
