"Thank you," I said to the receptionist as I retrieved my credit card, giving her a small respectful bow. She gave me a light smile, then proceeded to help the next patient. I exited the clinic, the breeze fluttering my bangs while I walked to the nearest bus stop. I had to get a physical and blood test done since the last time I did it was almost six months ago. My doctor continuously called me in for one but I repeatedly refused until just recently when he notified me that he would be out of town next week and today, he didn't have many appointments. I was glad it was on a Monday, so I wouldn't have to miss the diagnostic test in Music tomorrow second period.

Just as I arrived at the bus stop, I saw Kevin's little crush waiting there too. He had on a faded black denim jacket with a bejeweled collar of various sized white gems, a plain white shirt, ripped skinny jeans, and those boots. Someone needs to tell the guy that there are colors in the world besides black and white. Reluctantly, I stood a few feet away from him. We stood there for a while, sinisterness seeping through the minuscule holes of his clothing. I didn't like this guy, something felt strangely off about him. The bus to Bluehollow University and Shadowfay College rolled around and I kept an eye on him without actually turning towards him. The bus stop bench had a shade over it, glass panels on either side. I held back to watch him get on first. As soon as he moved, the air hitched in my throat. Panic started to rise in me and I tried to sustain myself from showing it. My left hand gripped the fingers of my right, a silent indication to keep a straight face.

But he made it rather difficult.

As he boarded the bus, he turned back to me, threatening warning written in his eyes. He suspected me, I knew it.

All because I didn't see his reflection in the glass.

He stared at me like I hit my head on the wall hard and lost my mind. I was at Kevin's place, telling him about the encounter I had with that guy. He sat on one side of his island while I tried to convince him on the other.

"I'm being serious, Kev! I saw what I saw," I repeated for the hundredth time in the span of five minutes.

"Quick question: why are you trying to sway my feelings towards my crush?" he inquired, leaning forth as he planted his hands on the cool leather stool.

"Because he's a vampire!" I exclaimed as if it wasn't evident enough. I was on the brink of pulling my hair out strand by strand because he didn't believe me nor was he taking me seriously.

"What makes you think he's a vampire? He's never done anything to you, you've never spoken to him. Stars, you don't even know his name!" he pointed out upon having the sudden epiphany. I crossed my arms, looking away sheepishly.

"What else? Just because he wears all black and you probably looked too fast to not see his reflection," Kevin raised his voice at me by the slightest notch.

"Let me guess, his fair skin really gave it away, didn't it?" he deadpanned.

"I didn't look too fast, I kept an eagle's eye on him and when he walked away to get on that bus, I staring back at myself," I enunciated, teeth gritted harshly. I inclined over the counter, meeting him on orb level.

"Carry on," he challenged me, crossing his arms on the surface, clearly amused by our bickering.

"As he climbed up those steps, he looked back at me and his eyes shot daggers at me. Clearly, he's sketchy about me," I elaborated. "And need I remind you what happened the last time you had a crush."

"First of all, that was back in high school. Second of all, because of the outcome, I had no intentions of talking to him anyway," Kevin retorted, a deep frown creasing his forehead.
