I sat on the island stool, staring blankly at my computer. New and Q told me they would call me via video chat to work on Music homework at seven, and it was currently seven thirty. I sighed irritatedly, I texted both of them, no reply. My chin rested in the palms of my hands. My glasses slowly began to slide down my nose. I pushed them up and straightened my back. I glanced at the clock on the wall which hands had barely moved.
Still seven thirty.
Just as I opened a new tab on the screen, Hwall walked into my living room. My eyes drooped slightly at the sight of him and my lips turned down. He wore a light smile on his.
His hair wasn't styled this time, he let his bangs fall on his forehead and dangerously past his eyebrows, barely misting his eyes from me. He wore a black flannel which was left unbuttoned, revealing a plain white shirt underneath. He also donned black skinny jeans and his black Converse. His cheeks seemed chubbier than usual. Cute.
I chuckled breathily and smirked by an inch.
He carried a gray folder that seemed to match the color of his majestic eyes and a led pencil in one hand. He sat diagonally from me and I moved to sit a stool away from him.
"Hey," I greeted him softly, refraining myself from grinning too big.
"Hi," Hwall replied, his smile spreading out a bit.
"H-how are you?" I asked cautiously. I didn't know whether I should bring up what had happened or not and just pretend like nothing did for the while he was here. Because when he was here, so was I. When he was here, he reminded me that I had an unspoken purpose. When he was here, I felt like me.
"I'm good," he responded, taking out a sheet of homework and pushing the eraser of his pencil twice. I licked my lips and nodded awkwardly. The atmosphere between us wasn't thick, I just felt a constant weight on my shoulder like an anchor dragging me down ever since that night.
"You?" Hwall asked abruptly, looking up at me momentarily before writing his name, his real name.
"Uh yeah, I'm fine," I said unsurely. He bobbed his head in response, making his fluffy hair bounce. My heart might as well give up and explode right then and there. I hated him with a passion, but it'd make more sense if he hated me. He had all the right reasons too.
But he still came back.
He could've ended all of our contact however he pleased and we would never see each other again (aside from going to the same college). He could've slapped me, publicly call me out, anything to get revenge at me. No. Here he was, smiling at me and asking how I was as if this were any another day in the life of us. Maybe his heart just easily forgave and forgot. Then again, Hwall didn't exactly forget his parents.
After working for a good ten minutes and still no call on my part, Hwall slowly sat up and set his pencil down.
"My uh," he stopped to clear his throat as his voice sounded croaky.
"My mother called me today." My ears perked up as my jaw dropped slightly.
"That- that's great. What did she say?" I inquired gently. I didn't want to pressure him into anything or saying something.
Hwall tucked his hands in between his legs, sniffled and pressed his lips in a thin line.
"She apologized." He got choked up, hanging his head low. I couldn't miss the red tinge in his eyes.
