Kevin

I awoke to the sound of my wonderful blaring alarm clock. I didn't have enough strength to groan into my pillow, so I sighed instead. I slapped a hand at my phone screen, surprised it actually worked to turn off that horrible sound. I faced the other side and saw no sign of Hwall.

My head shot up and a frown dug into my forehead. I sat up in bed and there was no duffel bag anywhere in sight. I looked back at the side table where he lay and noticed a vibrant sticky note in place of a phone. I reached over and plucked it off the wooden surface.

Thanks for letting me stay over, Stranger. Sorry, I had to run. I hope you slept well, you stress-infected animal! You're the best!

H.W.

A small warm smile formed on my lips and I melted, literally, melted. My shoulders slumped from being bunched up and my insides stopped somersaulting. An arrow caught the corner of my eye. I flipped it over and beneath the sticky film, he wrote:

Mind coming to the competition? Could use the extra support, nerd.

I lay back on the bed, holding the note to my chest. It was quite upsetting that I didn't get to wake up next to him but this was a suitable substitute. Wait, no, no, no. Hwall and I weren't like that nor will we ever be. He called me a nerd, a stranger. There was no way this was more than a friendship in his mind than mine. Yeah, I had a crush on him when he was technically my friend and that's kind of cute and creepy at the same time - I had no intention of dating him.

He was too out of my league and he'd most likely get bored of someone like me quickly. Friends should stay friends and they should become lovers when the feeling isn't one-sided.

"Hey, guys," I greeted them as I slipped into their black 2016 Range Rover. They greeted me back as I put my backpack on the car floor and clicked my seatbelt on.

"Look at you, Changmin!" I teased him while he sat in the driver's seat, one hand on the steering wheel, elbow propped up on the middle storage compartment. He rolled his eyes at me before settling his back against the seat and placing both hands on the wheel like the good beginner driver that he was.

"You're acting like I didn't drive you guys around when I had my permit," Q argued, proceeding to drive.

"Where did you take us when you had your permit? You took us to the dorms and back, woah!" New replied with dramatic sarcasm. I couldn't help but laugh and Q shot him a glare.

"Hey! Keep your eyes on the road, you could've crashed!" I exclaimed for the sole purpose of scaring him.

"You saw that too, right?"

"What?!"

When we arrived at Bluehollow, Q hopped out of the car and commented,

"I can't wait until I drive by myself."

"Well, keep waiting because you're stuck with us," I reminded, swinging my backpack straps over my shoulders. Q sighed and murmured an 'unfortunately.'

"Anyways," New started loudly, wrapping an arm around his shoulder and bumping us into each other. We snickered and he and I continued to mock Q's parking skills while he pretended like he didn't know us, walking in the middle. As we entered the building and strolled to our lockers, we talked of the assembly Level 3 Psychology kids had to go to during the lunch about the first upcoming city-given test we had. I couldn't complain, we were five months into college and we still had two more city-given tests and a midterm from our teacher to go. With a side of an abundance of tests and pop quizzes. Just kind of hated how it during lunch.
