Kevin
I was splayed out on my bed, sleeping serenely. My blanket was draped across my body diagonally, giving me minimum coverage. But I couldn't care less. The morning sun cut through my shut blinds causing me to pull the cover over my eyes. I disregarded checking the time, it was most likely too early for school. Suddenly, three thundering raps on my front door jolted me awake. I buried my face into my pillow as I groaned frustratedly. Whoever it was better to have a good reason for disturbing me.
Reluctantly, I clambered out of bed and staggered to the door. I swung it open, only to reveal Hwall standing on the other side.
"Kevin, we have to go! It's 7:45!" was his greeting. I didn't greet him back, instead, I stood there, rubbing my eyes groggily. He huffed exasperatedly before entering my apartment and closing the door. After setting his stuff down, he turned back to me and snapped his fingers twice in my face.
"Since when did you go to Bluehollow?" I asked him lazily, blinking my eyes slowly and unevenly. Everything around me was blurry like a hazy movie scene either because I was still in the process of waking up or I didn't have my glasses on. He shifted his weight to one leg, arms akimbo as he stared at me like he was restraining himself from slapping me across the face. My eyes trailed to the clock on my living room wall which read 7:48. They popped out of my sockets and I darted to my room.
"It's almost 8 o'clock, Hwall! Why didn't you tell me?"
I didn't have to see him to know he rolled his eyes, absolutely fed up, at me. I made my bed and went to the bathroom in a matter of seconds. I pulled out a random outfit and upon quick inspection, I adorned a rather decent one; a brown and white leather award jacket, a plain white T-shirt, black skinny jeans, and light brown leather boots. Hwall cleared his throat and I spun around to find him leaning against my door's threshold, one leg crossed over the other.
"You can adore yourself later, let's go," he deadpanned. From his tone, I didn't want to risk pushing him any further. I hastily grabbed my backpack (thankfully already packed from the previous night) and my phone. We both walked to the living room area as I slung my bag over my shoulders and rushed into the kitchen.
"Stranger, we kind of don't have time!" he reminded me.
"Yeah, and I need to eat!" I called back, rummaging through my pantry. Satisfied, I retrieved a granola bar and came out to see Hwall tapping his foot impatiently. I grabbed my keys and finalized, "Okay, let's go!"
I was lucky Bluehollow University was a five-minute walk from my complex or else I would have to hear it from Hwall. As we sped-walked, border-line jogged, Hwall lamented,
"I swear if we're late, I put all blame on you."
"Relax, we'll be fine," I assured him, leisurely snacking on my "breakfast". When we arrived, there wasn't a single soul in sight, meaning the bell was on the verge of sounding. We ran up the stairs to the lobby and in the hurry, my foot got caught on the top step. Hwall came back and knelt beside me. I stared back up at his perfect face, contorted in worry.
"Kevin?"
"Kevin."
"Kevin!"
My head shook vigorously, pulling me out of my now noticed daydream. Q hunched in front me, head listed to the side like I was some rare species of some sort.
"Come on, we have to get this dance done by today. It's due tomorrow," he said but his words sounded like gibberish. I looked around and the blinding fluorescent lights of the studio shone in my eyes in greeting. I saw New on the other side of the room, situated on the floor with his back against the wall and his knees pulled up, working on his own assignment.
