a/n this isnt edited, so im sorry, but I havent updated this story in so long, that i just wanted to finally release a new chpater and get closer to the end of this fanfic.
A month had passed since Aiden was last awake. Minho's wound was close to recovery, and Jeongin's ankle was fine because if that he was ready to jump through trees and mess it up once again.
Even with so many things going right, the house was nowhere near being calm. The boys were practicing more than ever, trying to perfect their fighting style and it was decided that everyone had to learn how to shoot a gun as some of the guys didn't know how. Pretty surprising as they're in a mafia, but they had their roles and they stuck to those.
There hadn't been any word from NCT beside Aiden's phone going off from time to time, all the messages were coming from Yukhei, even then, the members of Strays couldn't contact him in return as Aiden's phone was locked with a password. Weirdly enough, Felix didn't know Aiden's password. He tried three different passwords and none were right, so they decided to leave the phone be until Aiden woke up herself.
Hyunjin was moping around the house all the time, he would practice and then go back to being quiet and not sleeping, which was very weird as the boy really enjoyed his sleep.
Chan wasn't himself either, he would practice and work as always, but he did it two times harder, which resulted in him sleeping less as well. If anything his change is personality wasn't that major, though if you knew him well, then you could still see that something was bugging him and that he wasn't quite himself.
The rest just minded their own business, Felix tried to cheer everyone up, but that would result in Hyunjin yelling at him for not being worried about Aiden, which was definitely not the case.
He had many nightmares where he lost her, and then found himself feeling guilty for all the arguments they've had recently. He didn't want to imagine how it would be if the girl were to leave him alone, she was the only person who knew him better than he knew himself. And without her, he would easily lose himself.
Felix had realized many things during the month that Aiden was unconscious. He finally understood that his constant worrying about her was going to lead to them cutting ties with each other even if they worked together. There were many times where he would have arguments with himself that he should've stayed away from Aiden and Hanggyeol during school, cause maybe then she wouldn't have met him, wouldn't have befriended him and wouldn't end up shot.
...
Aiden felt her body ache as she tried to open her eyelids, her room was quite dark, so it wasn't hard to adjust. How long was she out for?
Luckily, Aiden remembered everything that had happened, so she wasn't surprised to find herself in her bed while connected to a bunch of medical equipment, which was probably trying to keep her alive.
Thankfully the bullet wound seemed to be doing a lot better, as it didn't burn even twice as much as she remembered, though the memory of Chan helping her made a blush rise upon her cheeks.
The door to her room opened and Woojin walked in with a glass of water in hand, but he didn't notice that Aiden was awake as the room was still dark, and the boy didn't want to turn on the light, as there was no need for it, all he needed to do was place a glass of water on Aiden's nightstand just in case.
" How long was I out for?" Aiden asked as she saw Woojin place the glass on her right.
Woojin's eyes widened and ignored Aiden's question, so he could run out of her room and tell everyone about her awakening.
The boy ran into the living room with a huge grin on his face, " Aiden's awake!"
That was all he said before rushing back to Aiden's room to make sure that she was feeling well, maybe he should've done that first, but he couldn't change his action now anyway.
The other eight boys quickly made their way upstairs and when they entered Aiden's, now lit up, room, they were met with the girl wrapped up in her blankets and weakly smiling at them. Chan was second to walk over to the girl's side, first being Woojin who was already there to begin with.
" Hey, how are you feeling?" Chan's voice was soft, there was a noticeable fear in the tone of his voice though, he was scared that she felt worse than before.
Aiden smiled a bit wider and nodded, " I feel fine, but how long was I out for? Cause clearly I've missed a lot since Hyunjin is blonde now."
Hyunjin laughed and awkwardly scratched is nape, " It's been a month."
The girl's eyes widened as she looked around her room trying to seek out her phone, " This is bad, where is my phone? I need to text Yuk-Lucas."
" Hell no, not now," Chan sternly said as he wrapped the blanket around Aiden even tighter.
" He must've been so worried, I can't just go rest more if I know that Lucas is out there worrying about me, and he has a lot of questions he needs to answer, so where is my phone?"
" I'm not letting you use your pho-"
Chan got cut off by Felix handing Aiden her phone, " Here you go, he's been texting you the whole month and I already know that he's worried, we all know."
" And Chan?" Felix turned to Chan, " Let her text him, the fact that she has ties to NCT could help us in the long run, maybe we'll be able to create some type of connections with them. That would guarantee that we have one less group on our backs non-stop."
" But NCT were the ones who hurt her and hurt me, " Minho quietly said.
Felix whipped his head back and sternly looked Minho right in the eye," Okay, they hurt you, but her friend Lucas wasn't the one who shot her and neither did Jaemin."
" Yeah, but I got-"
" If that's the case then Woojin shouldn't even be here as well, he has hurt us too, cause if I remember correctly he was around NCT as well, but weirdly enough he's an actual member of our team, " Felix turned to Woojin and awkwardly smiled, " Don't take this personally, I'm just trying to prove a point."
...
Everyone left the room, so Aiden could call Lucas and catch up with him and clear some things up. Chan walked down and noticed a white envelope on the ground right in front of the front door.
He picked it up and on the other side, there was a stamp of a certain mafia group, which they had been avoiding for quite a while.
This was it. The Minds had finally found them, and this was far from good news.
