Hoseok shoveled his rice into his mouth. He was still furious about the previous day when Prince Yoongi had ignored him as he walked down the hall.
He thought that what had happened in his office four days ago meant something to him. But it had been just as meaningless as the last relationship he had been in.
Hoseok had only had one partner in his life. It had been before he found out he was gay, he had dated a girl who he had liked for a long time beforehand.
He was so happy when they had started dating and he was sure that she was the one. But one day, she had told him that they needed to break up because she had fallen for another man.
She had broken his heart. It still hurt to think of it sometimes. It had taken a while for him to trust anyone new for a little bit afterwards, and he hadn't sought out a romantic relationship with anyone since then.
For some reason, he had gone against all his pre mandated notions, he had let Yoongi kiss him.
But like the girl from before, Yoongi had thrown him aside once he had outlived his usefulness. He would have to get over it though. He was here to pay back a debt, not to court the king-to-be.
Hoseok headed back to his room and changed into his uniform. Just as he tightened the tie around his neck, the small intercom system that had been installed throughout the servants' quarters beeped.
"All personnel report to the main room to welcome the guests."
He had almost forgotten about the guests that the royal family were welcoming into the castle. Not one of the castle's employees knew what they were there for. Only that they were all from South Korea's richest families and that it was extremely important that their stay was the best one that could be provided.
It was such an important event that the princes' cousin, Jeon Jungkook, was going to stay at the castle at the same time as the guests.
At least this will help distract me, he thought as he joined the rest of the staff in the main room.
Hoseok looked around at the people crowded together. He spotted Minsu and Yoonmi standing together across the room. Minsu waved eagerly at him. Hoseok smiled back.
They had accepted his story and sexuality without question a couple nights before. He had felt so grateful. But now he only felt guilt, as he had avoided them this morning because he was too busy worrying about the stupid prince.
They didn't seem to be angry at him though, and Hoseok's chest seemed to swell with happiness because of his newfound friends.
The royal family walked down the massive staircase at the back of the room, and the crowd of castle employees bowed once they passed them. They stopped in front of where Hoseok had placed himself amongst his fellow employees.
Great, Hoseok thought, this is just wonderful.
His eyes immediately fell on the mint-haired man who was standing respectfully behind the Queen Dowager. He looked around and met eyes with Hoseok. Hoseok shot him a furious glare; Yoongi flinched.
