Fallon held her head high walking into breakfast, Sam and Steven already sat down, hands intertwined resting on the table while they picked at their food and stared at each other lovingly. They were the sweetest couple.
"Morning dearest brother,"Fallon smiled at them both,"and of course my new brother-in-law." She lingered briefly by the pastries then hastily moved away. Too many carbs she thought.
"This croissant is so good I could literally eat them all," Sam mumbled holding a rather large mouthful. Steven gave him a disapproving look. Fallon gave him an even more disapproving look, not that he was looking at her.
"What I'm not kidding." He looked from Steven, to Fallon, to Steven again and then returned to his overfilled plate of breakfast piled high with bacon and eggs Benedict. No salad of course.
"Good morning to you too. You sound suspiciously chipper have you told dad the news yet?" Steven replied to Fallon's greeting.
"What news?" Sam sharply snapped his head up and looked right at Fallon.
Fallon ignored him and instead chose to glare at Steven, lips tight and closed, eyes wide and motioning over to the left of the room. She walked over to where she had motioned, arms folded like a moody teenager, her heavy heels clicking all the way.
Steven reluctantly pushed himself and his chair away from the table and stood up, hesitantly wandering over to his sister, contemplating whatever fate Fallon would decide for him once he'd arrived to oppose her.
"What newsss?" Sam was still calling to them both, unanswered.
"Oh my god Steven what are trying to do? Out me before breakfast? I told you about this or do you not understand the concept of secrets?" Fallon whispered harshly.
"You told me you would do it last night I just thought tha-" Steven was interrupted.
"Well you thought wrong just-" she sighed, her tone of voice turned softer," don't tell anyone yet okay, I couldn't bring myself do it it's a big deal. For me anyway," she looked Steven up and down. "You were kind of obvious from the start."
Steven looked barely offended by her comment as she marched off in the direction of the wine cellar. He unclasped his hands and slowly and returned to the table where he noticed his husbands plate of food had reduced considerably. Sam barely looked up from his knife and fork as Blake walked into the room.
He stood in the doorway, hands gripping the frame as if he were going to fall any moment.
"Is Fallon down yet?" he asked.
"Yeah she was just here like two seconds ago. Why?" Steven replied. He wondered if Fallon had told their father the news and he just hadn't taken it well. Maybe that's why she was so agitated. She had always been a good liar, obviously from their mothers side. No she couldn't have told him, he looked too calm and collected to have just been told that his daughter was-
Mr CA snapped Steven back into reality as he responded to the previous comment with,"She told me there was something she wanted to tell me."
Steven knew this was the moment that Fallon was finally going to tell their father the news, so without hesitation,"I saw her heading towards the wine cellar."
"Thank you son," he said smartly before he turned around slowly to go and find his daughter. Clearly speaking his thoughts aloud, Steven heard him say, "God I hope she's not pregnant."
He chuckled knowingly as Sammy Jo abruptly sat up and asked,"What news?"
I married this, Steven thought to himself, rolling his eyes.
