"James, can I ask you a question?" I asked halfway through a movie that we had been watching together. He nodded digging his hand back into the bowl of popcorn. "Why'd Finn take me and not Em?"

James turned towards me and shrugged, "That is something you'll have to ask Finn. I can't answer that for you." I sighed. The last person I wanted to see was Finn right now. "You really should talk to him. I can guarantee he feels horrible." I shook my head.

"Not tonight. Not right now." I continued to watch the movie trying to stay distracted. Yet every time I let my thoughts wander, they wandered back to him.

...

I climbed in the shower letting the hot water relax me. I was lost and confused. I couldn't tell if I should be worried that I had been kidnapped in a sense or that Finn wasn't telling me everything. I didn't know why he chose me over Em. Or why he took me in the first place when he was going to treat me like royalty. Since he was actually being nice, in a sense, and the fact that I was allowed to socialize and he hadn't taken my phone which was currently my only connection to the outside world was odd to me. The most confusing thing of all was the fact that at moments I knew I didn't want to leave. That it felt right.

I climbed out of the shower lost in my thoughts. I changed quickly into work-out shorts and a t-shirt. I pulled out my phone and texted James.

any good book suggestions. or maybe a library?

idk ask finn. i'll send you his number.

I moved from my sitting position on the huge fluffy bed and flopped onto my back. Letting my self relax. I stared at the ceiling and waited for my phone to buzz. When it did I whipped it out of my pocket and texted the number James had given me.

hi.

It felt like an eternity before my phone dinged again.

Hello.

I laughed to myself at his punctuation and formality, we were texting for crying out loud.

Are you going to tell me who this is?  he texted.

mmm i have a better idea. we are going to play 21 questions. but i will only play if i get to ask you the same ones. I responded.

Deal. He answered.

I laughed to myself again. It sounded odd but I was enjoying talking to him because I didn't have to listen to his condescending tone.

you first. I said.

Okay, have I met you in person? he asked I nodded to myself before realizing he couldn't see me nodding.

yes. I replied smiling.

How old are you?  Finn asked.

woah. no. not answering that they have to be yes or no questions. I answered getting up and pacing in front of the fireplace that I'd lit earlier because of how cold it got later in the night. I swear no one in this huge home knows what heating and cooling is.

Fine. He answered. I smiled imaging his face as he replied.

Are you over eighteen? Like an adult? I rolled my eyes. Counting that as two questions.

yes. I'm exactly eighteen. I answered smugly. I had just turned eighteen about three months earlier. I was officially an adult. Although I still technically had to finish school.

When did we first meet?

thats not a yes or no question. you're having trouble with this aren't you.

I'm not having 'trouble'.  I rolled my eyes again at his punctuation. He sounded so serious.

well then. continue.

I'm just going to guess Marlo.

WHHHAT. howd you know?  I have to admit as I pressed send I felt a bit childish for my texting habits compared to his. But I figured there was no harm in just being myself.

I assumed as much. Is there anything you need or can I get back to work?

actually! do you have any good books. im kinda bored.

Yes, I'll come to get you and show you where the library is.

you have a whole library!!!

He didn't respond after that so I waited for him to come to my door. I checked the time surprised to see that it was already noon. I practically jumped out of my skin when Finn's knock resounded on my door springing off the bed to open it.

"Hi," I said as I opened the door. Finn stood in front of me straight-faced.

"You're going in that?" He asked raising one of his eyebrows. He crossed his arms his electric blue eyes glancing over my clothes. I widened my stance and crossed my arms.

"Yes. Yes, I am, do you have a problem with that?" I responded. Trying to sound as confident as I possibly could. He smirked and turned around.

"No, I don't," he answered over his shoulder. I stood in the doorway for a moment, watching as his back muscles flexed when he walked. I shook my head trying to shake myself out of the daze I had been caught in.

Stop it. I should not be fantasizing about my kidnapper.

I had to jog to catch up to Finn by the time my legs finally listened and began to propel me forward. "Do you read often? If you have a whole library?" I asked as we walked.

"Technically the library was originally made to hold records. Like ancestry etc. my mother is obsessed with history and all that," Finn answered. He turned down another hallway, similar to the others because of the fact that they never seemed to end.

"Your mother is... so like she lives here too?" I asked curious to know if I got to meet here.

"Yes. Her and my father," Finn answered glancing at me quickly before turning back towards a door.

It was a set of double doors, carefully engraved to follow the flow of the natural oak. I gently ran my hand over the smooth wood in awe. I looked over to see Finn smiling. "Do you still want to go inside?" He asked. I nodded.

I gasped once the doors were open. The ceilings were high and the walls were lined with shelves. Each shelf was filled with books ranging from old and dusty to recently new and freshly printed. Directly across from the doors sat an oak desk on top, stacked neatly, where papers and several books were opened to specific pages. Each wall to the left and right opened up to two separate rooms also lined with shelves consisting books of every genre. I gently ran my fingers along the delicate spines.

Finn spoke breaking the silence, "I have to get back to work, but your welcome to read anything you want. Or take it up to your room." I smiled and nodded.

"Thanks. It's really big. Have you read some of the stuff in here?" I asked.

Finn laughed lightly, "Of course I have. My mother would've killed me if I hadn't." I laughed shyly at his remark. I'd never seen him so relaxed.

"Okay well, I'll see you later then?" I asked.

"Yeah. Uh-later," He stuttered as he turned to leave.
