As soon as the Council was over, I hurried back to my room, avoiding everyone.

I grabbed quickly a letter and a quill.

My dear Thrain, Lúthien and everyone else,

The Council has just finished and I wanted to tell you the outcome.

Frodo volunteered to take the Ring to Mordor, he, together with nine others, will leave in a couple of days.

The group is called The Fellowship of The Ring and consists of Gimli, Legolas, Aragorn, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam and Boromir. I too will accompany him.

I know that you are going to say that I'm reckless but I promise I'll be careful. I just couldn't let Frodo face this danger alone.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to write another letter, but I promise to keep in touch!

Stay well and I love you all!

All my love,
Keira

I was done writing the letter when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I called out.

The door opened and Bilbo stumbled in. I stood up and walked over to him, guiding him to the chair.

"My dear Bilbo," I began, smiling down at him when he sat, "What can I do for you?"

"I've heard you're going to accompany my nephew to destroy the One Ring," he began, sounding rather worried. "Please look after him, he's so young."

I kneeled down in front of him and put my hand on his knee. "I will, with my life."

The old hobbit smiled down at me. "I know you will." He patted my hand and his face became serious again. "I don't know what you'll be going to face in the wild, but there is something I need you to know."

I tilted my head and he continued.

"Frodo can't swim."

"Don't worry, my friend," I replied, "if the time comes that we have to cross a river, I will not let him drown."

Bilbo smiled relieved. "Thank you Keira, you have no idea what a relief it is for me to hear you say that."

"Bilbo, we are all family," I told him, "and family doesn't abandon one another."

Bilbo's eyes sparkled and he stood back up.

"Well then," he said, "that was what I wanted to ask you. I'll leave you so that you can start packing."

I looked down at the hobbit. "Thank you."

He gave me one last smile before walking back to his chambers, closing the door behind him.
