I try to ignore you....but you make it so hard.

When Lizzy woke up the next morning, she wanted to crawl under her blankets and never come out. She didn’t want to go to school and see Harry again. After their incident in drama, she learned that she had three more classes with him, two with his whole group and one with just Harry. She prayed that he wouldn’t try to speak to her again and that she could just forget everything, but she knew that couldn’t happen.

Upon arriving at school, she rushed through the parking lot in hopes that she wouldn’t catch the gaze of a certain curly haired boy. Luckily for her, she didn’t.

“Oh my god! Did you hear about Stacy?!”

“Yeah, it’s so sad!”

“But she was like….found completely drained of blood….” Lizzy had just caught the tail end of a conversation between two girls in the hallway. Drained of blood? Like the girl on the news? She thought.

“I know! It’s crazy! She’s the fourth one, now! What if one of us is next?!” Mark must’ve seen the worried expression on her face because he placed an arm around his sister’s shoulder and said, “Don’t worry, kid. I won’t let anything happen to you.” She smiled weakly at her brother and continued walking. It’s not me I’m worried about…

Lizzy used her first two periods to decide how to avoid Harry in the next class. Everyone, including the teachers, was too busy talking about that Stacy girl’s death so she wasn’t missing anything.I’ll just walk straight to Ele and ignore him completely. Yeah! But that was easier said than done.

She walked into the black box the next period and the first thing she spotted, of course, was his familiar curly hair. He looked up at her and the two briefly locked eyes before Lizzy looked away. To her surprise she found Eleanor sobbing in the back row of chairs.

“Oh my gosh, Ele!” Are you ok?!” She gasped and sat next to her.

Eleanor shook her head and buried it in her hands. “She was my cousin!” She cried. Lizzy knew immediately that she was referring to Stacy.

“Oh, Ele. I’m so sorry,” Lizzy wrapped her arms around her friend and let her cry into her shoulders. “So, so sorry.”

“I mean, she was the biggest bitch in school, but she was still my cousin!” Eleanor continued sobbing as Lizzy stroked her back softly. She noticed most students were in similar states as Ele. The atmosphere in the whole school was somber while everyone mourned the loss of their ‘queen bee’. Minus the five boys. They were sitting down and laughing as if nothing had happened. How could they have been so heartless?

The next two periods flew by and Lizzy was now at her locker searching for her English book. English being the class she had with Harry. She frowned at the thought. Once she had retrieved her book and closed the locker, she gasped and dropped everything. Leaning against the locker next to hers was the devil himself. “Jesus, Harry! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” She yelled.

“Sorry, love,” he chuckled and bent down to pick up her books. “You’re pretty jumpy, aren’t you?” She snatched her things from him and hurried away. Harry quickly caught up to her and said, “Shame about Stacy, eh? You know, she and I used to date back in grade 9.” Lizzy shot him a glare and walked away in hopes to lose him again but not before Harry grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him. She flinched at his touch. He was freezing cold. “What do you want?!” She growled.

“To explain everything to you!” he said with a sympathetic look.

“You don’t need to explain. Just leave me alone!”

“Not gonna happen, babe. Would you just listen?!” he begged.

“Listen?! Why should I listen to you? It’s because of you that people think I’m crazy! And at one point I actually started to question my own sanity!” She hissed.
