Ch3: It's A Deal!

       Buffy wasn't on the basketball team. Wonder crossed my mind during all my classes. It was lunch time, and I wasn't in the mood to eat.

"Cyrus, you good?" Andi asked me. I was brought out of my thoughts and looked at the girl.

"Yeah. I'm good." I said. Buffy gave me an oh really look.

"You're not fine Cyrus. It shows." Buffy stated. I frowned.

"I just can't believe you didn't make the team." I mummbled sadly.

"Cyrus! For the hundredth time, it's okay!" Buffy exclaimed. I shook my head in disagreement. This was not fine! Buffy killed it at tryouts, how come she didn't cut it?

Suddenly the bell rung. I started walking to my locker to gather my supplies for Life Science. That's when Marty walked up to me. Marty was Buffy's friend.

"Hey Cyrus. Tell Buffy I'm sorry, ok." Marty said.

"Wait! For what?" I asked.

"For not making the team." He answered.

"But how come she didn't make the team? Buffy was amazing." I ask, with a tint of anger.

"I don't know to be honest. You should  ask Tj." Marty stated.

"Why?" I blurted.

"He's the captain of the basketball team. He says who's on the team or not." He explained

"Gotcha. Thanks." I say, as I leave. Well now I know who to question. It's Tj. In all honesty though, I'm scared to walk up to him!

After Life Science, I started heading towards Tj's locker. After a nice two minute walk, I saw the blonde boy.

"Hey Tj!" I shouted, to gain his attention. He quickly turned to face me.

"What is it dorky?" Tj asked.

"Why isn't Buffy on the basketball team?" I asked him. He looked at me, his smile fading.

"Cuz I didn't pick her." He snarled.

"Okay, well why didn't you pick her? She did great." I stated.

"Because dorky, she's a girl." Tj stated. I felt myself starting to get angry. I can't believe he said that.

"How dare you! That's downright sexist! All because of Buffy's gender, she can't play?" I yelled, gaining a few stares from nearby students.

"You don't understand. Our school would be a joke if we had a girl!" Tj yelled.

"No! We would be a symbol to all girls around the world!" I yelled back.

"I'm sorry, but Buffy on the team, not happening. See ya dorky!" Tj exclaimed as he left. Well that helped solve nothing.

I then rushed over to Life Science. I then realized that Jonah was in this class and so was Andi. Ugh, I really don't want deal with their flirting today.

~ Time skip to end of the day ~

The final bell rung for the day. I was so glad I get to leave. I walked to my locker to see Tj waiting there. What does he want?

"Tj? Why are you here?" I asked in curiosity.

"Because I need you to do me a favor." Tj responded. I raised an eyebrow and crossed my arms.

"Go on." I muttered.

"So...I have a D in Algebra and I was hoping you could tutor me. Ya know, because you're in Algebra with me." He proclaimed.

"You want me to tutor you." I asked.

"Yes. That's what I literally just said. Were you listening...your dumb!" He exclaimed.

"I'm being called dumb by a guy with a D in Algebra...and wants to be tutored." I point out. Tj then realizes that, and frowns. I chuckle at his reaction.

"Okay fine, you got me! Just please tutor me! Tutor me...please dorky?" Tj pleaded, making puppy dog eyes.

"Stop pouting." I demanded.

"I will, once you tutor me!" He stated.

"Okay, but you have to let Buffy on the team!" I exclaimed.

"What!....Fine!" Tj snarled. Mission accomplished! Buffy is now on the basketball team. I looked up at the blonde boy infront of me.

"Thanks!" Me and Tj exclaimed in unison.

"Tommorow at 3:25 in the library. See ya later dorky!" Tj exclaimed, as he walked away. I gathered my things and left. I meet Buffy and Andi outside of school at The Spoon.

"Good news guys!" I exclaimed as I took my seat.

"What is it?" Andi asked.

"Buffy...You are now on the basketball team!" I shouted for the whole restaurant to hear.

"What? How?" Buffy asked excitedly.

"Let's just say...Tj and I made an arrangement." I exclaim. Buffy and Andi laughed. I joined in the laughter.

Soon after, Jonah came walking in. He took his seat next to me. We broke the good news to him, and he congratulated Buffy. After about another 5 minutes, our baby taters arrived. I started eating peacefully, until I notice that Jonah's hand was slightly on top of mine...and he wasn't taking it off!

"You okay Cy?" Jonah asked, looking at me stare.

'Oh, sorry. I don't know what got over me." I responded. I quickly pulled my hand away from his.

After everyone was done eating, we all went separate ways. I was walking towards my house. I felt my phone buz in my pocket, and checked to see what it was. It was a text from Buffy.

Buffy: Hey. Thanks again! You're the bestest friend ever!

Me: Yeah, well don't thank me. Besides, I have to tutor Tj now.

Buffy: Oh. Tj? Are you sure you want to tutor...him?

Me: It's fine. Tj isn't that bad. I think he's warming up to me!

Buffy: Are you sure that's a good thing...

Me: 😑! It's gonna be fine Buffy. I have to go, see ya tommorow!

Buffy: Bye

I put my phone back in my pocket and continued walking home. Tommorow...I'm tutoring Tj.
