My Own Personal Experiences 3

Well, it's certainly been a while since I check in on here. Due to a combination of how hectic it was here for awhile and because of Writer's Block, I couldn't come online without making myself even more stressed out than I already was. So I was avoiding coming on.

Moving on, I wasn't planning on posting another of these MOPE chapters so soon after the last one..... But, I wanted to update my personal experiences of the creepy and scary. So here it is.

Just as I was thinking of checking on this again, something else happened. Though this time, I wasn't the only one to hear it; my parents heard it this time as well.

About 2-3 am there was this loud bang that sounded like something heavy made out of metal hitting something made out of glass. Scared the hell out of all of us when it happened. We checked everywhere in the house, but nothing was out of place inside. So I slipped my coat and boots on and went outside to check out there.

I checked my mom's Ford and my dad's Kia that sit in our driveway; nothing wrong there. I looked down the street, both ways; again, no problem there. Then I started looking around the perimeter of the house to see if it was as my dad suggested - a piece of ice/snow that had fallen off the roof; nope. Not that either.

At this point, I started getting kind of angry because I have a hard enough time falling asleep at night. I don't need loud, unexplainable noises happening in/around my house. It just sets my nerves on edge.

That being said, after I gave the back yard a sweep with a flashlight, I moved to the back alley. (We have to keep a close eye on our back alley because it's completely unlit and we have had someone set our garbage bin on fire before.) I used my flashlight and gave the alley the same treatment that I gave the street. Still didn't find anything wrong.

The only place left to check after that was the inside of the garage. So I grab my keys out of my pocket (after relocking both the front and back gates) and unlocked the side door on the garage and went in. I check all around my Nisan and the shelves. Noting. Not one nick-knack, power tool or bottle of various car fluids out of place.

By now, I was good and pissed off. It was late and I had been planning on going to bed after checking on all my Wattpad works. And this noise had totally ruined the relaxed mood that I'd just managed to fall into and that I need in order to successfully fall into REM sleep. I was not happy and needless to say, I didn't get to sleep until the sun was well on it's way up again.

Now, let me explain a few things before people start making comments on what I should or shouldn't have done. (I really don't like people pointing out the obvious to me. When it happens, it only makes me feel like an idiot. I don't like feeling like an idiot.)

First off, it's pointless trying to get the cops out here. When our garage was broken into once, they refused to come out and check for fingerprints. When my bike was stolen, they refused to come out again. They don't care about a supposedly "good neighborhood". They'd rather lurk around the bars and nail some poor sucker on his way home who's only had one beer.

Second, we'd just had a light snow fall, so all the old footprints and tire tracks were covered. The only new prints in the snow were my own.

Thirdly, yes, I was the one that had to go out and check because I was the only one still dressed.

-Sighs- Anyway..... Didn't mean to harp on any of you. That incident had me seriously on edge for a good while, but at least we know what caused it now.

A few months after this happened, well after all the snow had melted, my parents had just went to move the old TV stand out on to our deck that had been sitting in front of our patio door since we bought a new one with a built-in electric fireplace for our living room (our house is extremely drafty in the winter). That's when they discovered my pewter shamrock sun catcher on the floor between it and the door. Remember when I said that it sounded like something metal hitting a plane of glass? Well apparently, during the winter the suction cup holding it on to the glass of the door let go and it fell on one of the glass shelves of the old TV stand. That's what caused it.

We hadn't even noticed that it was missing at the time. We rarely looked at it. It was only when we needed to clean the glass that we ever looked at it or moved it. The thing is really badly placed as it rarely ever catches the sunlight, so it rarely ever throws rainbows out around our dining room. Factor all of that in and is it any wonder why we had such a hard time figuring this one out?

Though, I am glad that this one was easily explained, even if we found the answer to it several months after the fact. Now if only I could figure out what caused that fucking hiss; I'd be so much happier.

That being said, anyone else have a story about something similar happening to them? An unexplainable sound while walking through the woods? Your cat or dog jumping out at you from some hidden spot in our house and giving you a good jump-scare? Go ahead and share it. We love hearing about this kind of stuff, even if it turns out to be on the silly side of things.
