It had been a week since Damon had gotten close to Lily and she was really warming up to him. She would even let him pick her up and carry her if her legs got too tired while they were out walking.
Damon had taken Lily to the greenhouse that was attached to the castle. She instantly fell in love. The greenhouse was absolutely massive, about the size if a football field if not bigger.
Damon would walk around with Lily and tell her about all the plants, and occasionally animals that had begun to make this their home. He loved seeing the awe in her eyes as she looked at all the plants. And he couldn't wait for today because today was the day he would show her the vegetable section of the greenhouse.

When Damon walked into Lily's room, he was surprised to see her already dressed and ready in a pair of overalls and a plain white t-shirt, no shoes. Lily was not a fan of shoes.
"Kätzchen, you need shoes." Damon smiled at her as he walked in. Lily slowly walked up to him and hugged him. She smiled at the tingles and Damon smiled at her in general, wrapping his arms loosely around her waist.
"I don't want shoes." She whined in protest.
"At least put on some slippers?" Damon asked, using puppydog eyes against her.
Lily sighed and went and got the slippers while Damon smiled victoriously.
Damon couldn't help but laugh when Lily came out with slippers in the shape of huge dinosaur feet. She really was a character.
"Well, I guess that's what I get, let's go, little one." Damon held our his hand and Lily took it with little hesitation.
The walk to the greenhouse was a little ways away, but it was worth it in both Lily's and Damon's opinion.
It wasn't long before the duo reached the greenhouse. They hadn't talked much, but the silence was comfortable. Neither one felt the need to fill every moment with noise. Silence was nice sometimes.
Damon lead Lily into the greenhouse and directed her towards the vegetable section. Once they reached it, Lily was very confused. These plants looked nothing like the ones that she had seen before. She had seen flowers, ferns, bushes of all sorts, and even some weeds, which were apparently bad and so she helped remove them. However, she had seen nothing like these. There seemed to be things growing off of the plants but she didn't know what.
"These are vegetables. You can eat them." Damon informed her.
Lily's face lit up as she quickly grabbed a leaf and shoved it into her mouth.
"Wha-" Damon looked stunned as Lily continued to chew for a second before she spat it out.
"Not good." She frowned. She was hoping that the vegetables would taste good. Sadly, they did not.
Damon chuckled at the strange being in front of him. "Little one, you can't eat the leaves, you have to eat the vegetable."
Damon showed her how to pull a carrot out of the ground and she was amazed. She had never seen anything like it.
Damon walked over to a hose and rinsed the carrot off and handed it to her. "Now eat the orange part. Not the green part." Damon had taught her colors using the flowers that they visited. She had enjoyed learning.
Lily, now hesitant, took a bit of the carrot, surprised that it crunched. She chewed for a little bit and realized that she really liked carrots. It wasn't long before she had eaten the whole thing and was asking Damon for another.
"Little one, we still have more things to try. Maybe after we finish up I'll let you have another one." He smiled at her and ruffled her hair, to which she pouted.
