TWO FIRST IMPRESSIONS

TODAY WAS THE DAY THAT COULD CHANGE KAYLEY BLAKE'S CAREER. It seemed Phoebe knew the importance of the day too when Kayley's phone started ringing for the second time already that day, at the exact same time of the morning before.

"You know, Phoebs. This is beginning to feel a little like déjà vu."

"Whatever you wanna call it Kal, I will not be put off by you and your sarcasm because. . . TODAY IS YOUR AUDITION DAY."

Kayley's anxiety immediately reached record heights as she talked through gritted teeth. "If you're trying to make me more nervous than I already am, you are definitely succeeding in that goal."

"I'm sorry. I'll be over in a minute."

"No, Phoebe. No, not aga–" The nervous girl didn't want to sound ungrateful at her friend's hospitality but the last thing she could think to do right now was socialise just hours before her audition.

"Yep, this is definitely déjà vu." Kayley helplessly said to herself whilst falling back on her bed with a sigh. Despite knowing her lines back to front, the brunette still couldn't help falling into the cliché pitfall of doubting herself last minute. She put on the outfit she had bought with Phoebe only one day prior. She then took a deep breath in and out and then giving herself a motivational speech in the mirror before making her way downstairs to eat breakfast.

"Jesus Phoebe, how did you get in?" She jumped, surprised to see Phoebe sitting on her kitchen table when she hadn't let her into the house that morning.

"You gave me spare keys to the house."

"No, I didn't." She looked at her best friend bewildered. Kayley was very much aware of the nature of Phoebe's animated personality the girl she still managed to surprise her.

"So maybe you didn't. I guess we'll never know."

     "Wha−, I don't get what just happened here−"

"I made your favorite – eggs and bacon on toast to keep you going through your audition and then I'm taking you out for a late lunch. My treat."

Kayley, however, did not hear a word her friend spoke as she still stared discomposed at the front door that Phoebe had just walked in from. "Where yo−, did yo−, did you call me from downstairs just a minute ago?" Phoebe only gestured for Kayley to sit down. "Phoebs, you are actually mental."

"Charming. Now eat." So the distressed girl did just that.

     "Uhm, thank you?"

"No problem at all Kal." She then sat down with a plate of her own and two cups of coffee opposite Kayley. "So, you nervous?"
