THREE BLACK ENVELOPE
━━━━━━━ ・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧・IT HAD BEEN FIVE WEEKS. "CALEB, HAS ANYTHING COME IN THE MAIL FOR ME TODAY?" Kayley asked, walking into her little brother's bedroom only to see him lying on the bed face down. His room was a mess, there were clothes scattered all around along with marijuana at the side of his bed and two empty vodka bottles on the floor.
"Does it look like I've been up to check?" He mumbled without moving from his position. Normally Caleb would hide something like this; she'd never walked into his room to see him in this state so blatantly. He'd hear their parents walk through the door and tell his friends to get out of his room and take their things with them whilst Kayley stalled their parents downstairs. But their older brother Zac had his own place now and they were away for the weekend, so he doesn't care that Kayley saw. He doesn't see the need to make an effort to hide it from her because he knows that everybody else would just lecture him, try and help by pleading him to stop, start crying, start looking at him differently; but Kayley made sure she never looked at him differently. She wanted to help but she didn't want her brother to lose the one person that he truly trusted in the world, and she was always scared that if she tried to interfere he would see it as a betrayal. Kayley didn't see him as broken, as some stupid kid who didn't know what he's doing. Caleb knew what he's doing, he just didn't care.
"Caleb, what the fuck happened last night?" This time, he yawned and sat up on his bed. He tried to wake himself up by wiping his eyes and then looked straight at his sister.
"The usual. Matt, Soph and Izzy came over, we got a little wasted. You know how it goes." She did know, but she bit her tongue. She had to figure out a way to stop this but that would mean getting help but that would be hard when telling other people was the one thing Kayley promised Caleb that she wouldn't do.
There was so much Kayley wanted to say but "I see" is all that came out of her mouth in a whisper.
"Why did you want to know about the mail anyway?" She sat on the end of his bed taking a deep breath.
"I'm supposed to hear from MTV today, to tell me whether or not I've got a callback. . . and I'm freaking out."
He sighed. "Wanna go check the mail together?" He then said questioned with a smile.
"Yes, that would be great." Caleb got out of bed and put a shirt over his head, they then both went downstairs and stopped at the front door. The girl let Caleb go first and watched as he nervously yet rapidly flicked through the mail in his hand.
"Jeez, if that's your expression how do you expect me to react?"
He then slowed down. "Sorry." Caleb then carried on flicking through yet even more mail until he found one black envelope with the Teen Wolf logo in the bottom right hand corner. "I think this is for you." He said as he hesitantly handed his sister the envelope. After a few seconds, she put her hand out to accept it and held it to her chest.
