A BaekYeon Story

6 - Going Back

August 25th, 2012

It is the day of the 14th Korea-China Music Festival and all artists are gathered at the main stage for rehearsal. They will have a joint collaboration at the end of the event with fellow Chinese singers.

The stage directors mentioned all the artists to stand in their corresponding position. Taeyeon walked ahead of her members and followed the guide that the director said. Behind her are her members tailing her while talking to each other.

"SNSD please stand here. EXO members may stand on this side, and then IU can stand here—"

It was very crowded for the joint stage's rehearsal. Baekhyun walked next to D.O and Suho; the rest of the members are ahead of them. They stand next to their sunbaes, SNSD members. But since it is very occupied, hence some of them ended up to stand behind the girls.

"The main singer should stand more in front," he heard the director said. Suho ushered him to walk forward and he stood at the very front row.

"Ya! Kim Taeyeon," the name mad him jolt his eyes open. He looked to his side and was surprised to see Taeyeon standing exactly beside him. Taeyeon is talking with Sooyoung and she has not realized his presence yet.

The song is finally starting, Taeyeon focused herself again. She bumped her elbow with someone so she glanced to apologize when he noticed it was Baekhyun next to her. They caught each other eyes and exchanged a simple greeting between each other.

Baekhyun found it a bit hard to focus on singing because not only he was distracted with some jokes his members throw behind him, he also found it hard not to peek on Taeyeon. He did not know what makes him like that but it is difficult to look away from her. Maybe some people may say he is astonished by her presence because of the non-stop glancing he did.

The rehearsal comes to an end and every artists are required to go backstage to prepare themselves. Taeyeon met some EXO members that she has not greeted yet back then while walking to her waiting room. She then noticed Baekhyun—again noticing the cute smile he had—bowing at her and the other SNSD members.

"You sing well," she patted his shoulder. He is. Taeyeon is pleased hearing him singing next to her. His voice is filled with gentleness and sweetness and she likes it.

Baekhyun's face is heated. He is sure he looks like a cooked prawn that time.

The actual event has started and it is the last stage already, which means all artists will be singing the last song together. They have stood in their respective place before the song starting.

"Ya," Taeyeon felt someone nudging her elbow. She glanced at her side and found Sunny giggling next to her. Hyoyeon is holding her smile as well.

"He keeps looking at you," said Sunny, making Taeyeon's brows furrowed.

"Huh?"

The two of them giggled upon seeing the confusion in Taeyeon's face. This girl here is so insensitive. How can she not know that?

"That EXO's member...," Sunny whispered to her ear. "Baekhyun,"

"What's with him?"

Hyoyeon smiled while still focusing on the audience. "He keeps stealing glances at you. You got yourself a fanboy," she replied quietly.

Taeyeon is a bit surprised to hear the news. Really?

"He is behind you, but a bit to the right," she heard Sunny whispering to her again.

Taeyeon secretly glanced behind. The said boy is singing while looking to the audience. She immediately turn her head to the front again, avoiding the chance of them meeting eyes.

He is cute, that resonates inside Taeyeon's mind.

She keeps her composure again and continues singing—not knowing a pair of eyes, for once again, is looking at her.
