"Wait just a second," Lucas remarked, crouching at the lever on the ground, which was connected to another machine with three chambers, and Light Silver Steve was inside one of them. "You'll be separated in 3..."
     "2..."
     "1..."
Thunder thrashed inside Lucas's bunker from the defusing machine when he flicked the lever. After the things he had seen back at the Rainbow Town, he decided that Light Silver Steve should know about everything he wanted to tell him. "Light Silver Steve, there's something I wanted to ask you." He remembered the conversation from his signs and his friend's response. "Were you battling Rainbow Steve before you got hurt?" Lucas can still recall Light Silver Steve's hopeless expression, then he shook his head and nodded afterwards. He meant yes, and no, which told Lucas that his discovery of Nightmare Steve's secret was true, Nightmare Steve was indeed the one battling Light Silver Steve, and he had Rainbow Steve under his control too. "At least we knew where Rainbow Steve was and what was behind his insane appearance." He thought.
Lucas looked back up at the main chamber, where Light Silver Steve had been standing. He was gone, and to his relief, the other two chambers were filled with Light Steve in one of them, and Silver Steve in the other. He had successfully separated the fusion. Flicking the lever back, he rushed to break the glass planes which were trapping them inside the small output space. "Light Steve, Silver Steve, you have to help me, and that also means helping Rainbow Steve getting out of his evil clutches." He requested after both of them leaped down from the machine, their pure white coats shimmered from the Light energy. "Please, this is the only way to save Rainbow Steve and find Sabre!" He could feel both of his friends' uncertainty and worries, after all, they had lost the battle against him fused. Nightmare Steve might had gained power since when they thought they had destroyed him at his fortress, or maybe Nightmare Steve was even more powerful than they had expected, anyways they were no match for that monstrosity.
Silver Steve looked down, yet the hesitation he could detect flared across the trio. Lucas glanced at Light Steve, then back at Silver Steve. They were doubting they could defeat the murderous Nightmare Steve a lot. It was a brief silence, they were still, processing all those events that happened. Lucas could guess without him telling them, they already knew what happened to Rainbow Steve. "Have you known it already?" He asked, just to check if his discovery was shared among them.
     They both nodded.
"Then was that why Nightmare Steve followed you and wrecked you here when I was in the Rainbow Town? Was that why you decided to fuse yourself at the sight of that treacherous monster and you didn't even tell me?" His tone was loud and sorrowful as he turned around, banging his fists on the stony wall. He knew they wouldn't understand his speaking. Until Light Steve's voice sounded behind him. "Su evigrof. Regnad otni ydobyna gard ot tnaw ton od ew." Lucas glared back at them, half surprised that they could guess what he meant based on words, half curious that how could they do that. "Is that so? You said you didn't want to drag anybody into danger, but we are friends, you shouldn't face this alone even if you are with your mega clone! If we were to help, Rainbow Steve could be free, and Nightmare Steve could be vanquished forever! But you chose to free Nightmare Steve and let him feed on your powers!" He collapses onto the ground, tears running down on his face with hatred. He felt miserable and betrayed, he felt like they were never close enough, just because he was a player, and both of them were Steves. Lucas suddenly felt a light warm touch on his back, but with his tantrum, he flung it away from himself. Turning to both Steves sharply, he yelled, "LEAVE ME ALONE!" His furious gaze turned to shock after processing what he said to his best friends and looking at Silver Steve's hurt expression. Lucas picked himself up back on his feet and ran out of the basement door.
He dashed across the open and by the chests he used to store assembling parts of machines. He reached to open a door of his house, only to move his hand away and skipped past the wall as he disappeared through a fern bush behind it. He had never felt this depressed in his entire life, "Why would I want to stay here and continue helping out the good Steves and fight?" This query had stuck in his head for a while. He was about to give up when something hit him, Rainbow Steve's advice!
Lucas reached down into his pocket, searching when he desperately tried to pull out a corner of a folded paper from it. After examining the evidence, he opened it hastily, revealing a short letter. His mind was then filled with the flashback of the dream he had meeting Rainbow Steve and Sabre. Apparently Rainbow Steve had sent Sabre off to wake while keeping himself for a little longer. He remembered the confusion he had shown on his face when Rainbow Steve turned to him and said, "Lucas, I have to talk to you alone."
"What's that you want to talk about?" He replied.
"I could only visit both of you through visions three times, though I had gone to talk to Sabre before. After the third time, I wouldn't be able to hold much longer, and unfortunately you will have to face what's in front of you without me." His tone was sad, but Lucas could tell he wasn't hopeless.
"Why didn't you tell Sabre about this too?" He asked his first Steve friend.
"Sabre is a good friend, but I'm afraid his vulnerable personality wouldn't be able to handle anything after hearing this news. The evil had almost complete control over me and my powers, but I can still watch over both of you in a brief moment.  I hold my hopes on you. Here, take this," he placed the folded paper into Lucas's hands. "Whenever you felt lost, open it and I will speak to you through words. It was a close call that I resisted Nightmare Steve's actions and teleported you away instead. Now I'll send you to the Rainbow Town. This is the least I could do. Don't worry about Sabre, he was away for a reason." Lucas gave him one last hug, then woke up leaning against to the Rainbow Wall, he had even found the folded paper laying at the palm of his hand. Grasping it tightly, he shoved it into his pocket.
