Melanie's POV:
"Are you sure you heard correctly?" I ask as we walk further away from the school and closer to my car in the student parking lot. I dig my keys out of my sweater pocket with one hand, nearly dropping them in the process.
Darla walks alongside of me, pouting and glaring at the same time. "I was around the corner when they were walking up the stairs. I heard every word they said."
I unlock my car with one quick press of a button as we draw closer. We split ways and walk to our designated doors. I pause before climbing in. "Okay, well, maybe Scott won't do anything. He is kind of shy."
"Or Allison will force herself on him." Darla scowls at the mere thought.
"Nope. No way." I open my door and slide in to the seat. I toss my bag in the backseat. "I don't think Scott would do that to you. He really likes you-"
Darla holds up a hand. "He really likes Allison. Scott hasn't tried to hang out with me as much as he hangs out with her. Did you know they even went out on a date last week?"
I stick my key in the ignition, starting my car. "Then you should ask him out."
"Yeah, right." Darla snorts. "I'm done with Scott McCall."
I burst out laughing. "Yeah, and I'm done with mint ice cream." She glares at me. I reverse out of the parking spot. "Okay, look, if you really like Scott, like I know you do, then you need to show that to him, too. Don't just give up because he is showing more attention to Allison."
Darla raises a brow. "Since when did you become good at relationship advice?"
I press on the brakes when the line of cars ahead of me come to a complete stop. "I watch a lot of tv."
Car horns start to honk and people grow curious at what is going on up ahead. I sit up a little higher in my seat, curious to know what is going on. At the very front of the line, Stiles' blue jeep is the one holding us back. What is he doing? The guy in the car ahead of me climbs out and walks towards the scene.
"I wonder what's- Darla, are you serious?!" I yell at my best friend when I see her running out of my car with the door wide open.I slump back down in my seat.
Darla's figure quickly races up to the front of the line with a slight limp from not stretching. Now, she's going to complain about her knee all night. Did Stiles' get a flat tire or something? I rest my head on the window, fingers tapping along to the quiet beat of the song playing. Horns continue to honk from the drivers being impatient. Okay, all of this noise is not going to make the cars move faster. From what I can see, Stiles is out of his car, which means none of us are moving yet.
After a few minutes, Stiles' jeep drives off, but we're still stuck in line because Allison is now out of her car. I just want to go home and get in my pajamas. Darla jogs back to the car, occassionally glancing over her shoulder to watch Scott and Allison chat. Surprisingly, she doesn't look upset. She actually looks excited about something. Did she talk to Scott?
Once she's back in the car, I ask a question, "Well?"
Darla nearly bounces in her seat. "Derek Hale."
The line finally starts to move again and I drive forward. "What about him?"
"He was laying on the ground in front of Stiles' jeep. I didn't really catch all of it, but from what I did hear is crazy." Darla's head whips around, like she searching for something. Her fingers points forward at Stiles' jeep. "There! Mel, I need you to follow his jeep."
