“Everyone seems to really like you.” I sad softly to him.

I quickly closed the distance between us so I was walking directly next to him. Which seemed to be getting me some strange looks from the other elves around us. I looked back at Sara who was still walking behind us.  She knew exactly what I was mentally asking her and just shrugged her shoulder. Letting me know that she also had no idea why everyone was so suddenly tense.

“What would make you say that?” He asked me not bothering to make eye contact.

He just kept smiling at the people around him. Silently nodding to every single person who looked his way.

“Well look at them all. It’s clear to see they practically worship you. The way they all look at you is as if they just found there savior. You must be one hell of a warrior.” I told him as I made shore to accidently brush my arm against his.

I looked at him as he tensed up under the simple contact of our skin. It was as if he had never have had any physical contact with a women before. I quickly pushed the thought out of my mind. He was way to good looking and for all I knew could be a hundred years old. There was no way he has never been with a woman.

“You’re too kind. They are simply responding to my presence in the appropriate manner.” He told me.

It was weird how he could not see how these people truly adored him. He was obviously someone important and kind. I could not help but chuckle at him.

“Why are you laughing?” He asked me.

“I’m laughing at you.” I told him as I softly pushed him away from me in a playful manner.

He again tensed a little at my touch.

“You really don’t see it do you?” I asked him.

“What is it you think I am incapable of seeing?” He asked me in a very series tone.

“I know it’s not the same thing but back where I am from I was popular to. What I had to learn really quick was the difference between the people who were being nice to you because they wanted what I had. Thinking that being close to me being my friend would make their lives better or something. Then there are the people who want to be close to you because they actually care and don’t want anything from you. I have become very good at telling these types of people apart.” I told him.

“I don’t know much about you and your status here but it’s clear that these people actually care about you. The little ones obviously look up to you.” I told him.

“Do you really think so?” He asked.

This was the first time he stopped walking and made eye contact with me sense we started talking. He was smiling obviously he cared greatly what the people of this city thought about him. I wondered about him. What it was that had him on such a high pedestal, but I knew if I asked he would think that I was one of those people who just wanted to use him.

I mean that’s exactly what I wanted. I needed him to like me enough in the next few minutes so when he brought us to his Queen he would maybe talk her into going easy on us.

“I no so.” I told him.

He smiled back at me I forced myself to break eye contact with him and continued to look around. Everyone’s eyes were on us. Some of the people were looking at me as if I was doing something wrong. I slowed down my pace and rejoined Sara. Once I was walking behind him and back with Sara the other people started going back to ignoring us and only paying attention to BaeLeruil.

“What was that?” Sara whispered to me.

“Just making conversation.” I told her.

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” Sara told me.
