chapter 4

Meredith's POV

I was lying on bed, in on-call room and looking at the ceiling. When you are dark and twisty, it's hard to fall asleep. Not after some time Alex came in the room. He sat on the second bed.

,,are you okay? " he said. ,, how went your day with Lexie? "

,,ugh fine. That's not the problem. "

,,than what? "

,,the problem is that it was not supposed to happen that way. Mark should not have an inoperable tumor in his brain And l didn't even think to And now he's.... This is , This is wrong. This isn't how it's supposed to happen."

,,l know."

,,also the problem is that fairytales don't come true. It's the nightmares that always seem to become the reality. "

,, l understand. "

,,l hate this."

,,l know. "

Dr Bailey called Alex, so I was alone again. Derek came in and layed next to me.

,,Hey, you okay? "

,,Nah, I'm... I just can't understand. You have a chance to save your best friend's life. And you refuse. You say you can't do it , but we all know that you are God in the OR. "

,,Do you think I don't wanna save him? I'm not sure I'm ready for this. I wonder...."

,,stop Derek, knowing is better than wondering, waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beats the he'll out of never trying. "

And then , I left.

Lexie's POV.

I went to find Dr Bailey. And when I found her, I was getting ready to start talking. But she said.

,,You have a problem, Little Grey?"

,,No."

,,You have a mocha latte?"

,,No."

,,Then go away."

,,I just wondered if you could give me some patients , I need to work. "

,,room 1526, the old lady is waiting for you. "

,,thanks Dr Bailey."

I went to the room and Alex was there. The old lady's heart stopped.

,,Charge again" Alex said ,,clear"

Still nothing.

,,Time of death 19:37" Alex said while taking off his gloves. I couldn't stop crying. I just imagined Mark dying like that. Everyone left the room except me and Alex.

,,why are you crying? "

,,it's nothing "

,,you can trust me Lexie. "

,,I'm just scared that I'm gonna lose Mark. "

,,you can have the worst crap in the world happen to you, and you can get over it. All you gotta do is survive. "

,,the problem is, we are human. We want more than to just survive. We want love. "

,,I'm sure, you won't be alone ever. There will always be someone who will love you. "

,,thanks"

Later at Joe's.
Miranda's POV.

I was sitting near to bar when Derek came in and sat next to me.

,,I spoke to mark."

,,he's your best friend. So, I'm not surprised. "

,,no, about the surgery. He thinks that I can do it. He asked me to do it. Meredith asked me to do it. Everyone thinks that I have to do it.

,,Joe, do I look friendly to you?" Says Bailey.

,,Uh, you're a tiny little kitten of joy and love. [Bailey stares at him] What? He needs some motivation.

,,McDreamy, go sit by someone who cares." She looked around ,, see Meredith's here. "

I looked at her.

She was drinking tequila. And when Joe asked if she would drink some more she shouted.

,,more tequila, more love, more everything. More is better. "

,,okay, I'm just gonna take her home. "

And so we went.
