Emma's POV

The next day

I couldn't sleep well yesterday knowing what I had just read on the letter. Even though the letter did gave me some kind of hope in a twisted way, I still wanted to believe this was all a joke. But it wasn't. I cannot by all means inform anyone about this, including Mother. I know she will be upset that I'm gone but this is for her own good. I could not imagine a life without my Mother, since my dad past away when I was younger.

I sighed as I got off my bed and went to freshen up in the bathroom. After a while, I went down to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Mother. As I was making the pancake mixture, I heard the doorbell ring. I put down the whisk and strolled towards the door. I was greeted by a cheerful Emily. She immediately hugged me and pressed her head beside mine.

" Are you feeling any better than yesterday? I don't want to ask you if your ok cause I know your not." She whispered in my ear. I muttered back a yes in response. After our moment of hugging, I invited her to sit at the kitchen stool while waiting for me to finish the pancakes. A few minutes later, I started to place the pancake mix onto the pan and cook it.

"So... what are you gonna do now? Your Mother does not have much time left if I'm not wrong. According to my knowledge and skills, she probably only have a few months left. Sorry if I'm being too blunt but I'm just concerned." Emily asked me as I flipped a pancake.

I was debating internally if I should tell Emily about what happened yesterday night with the mysterious stranger. I've always confided in with her and she does the same back to me as well.

" I'm just going to spend more time with Mother and make good memories. I don't want her last memories before she past on to be something sad or bitter. I will probably do everything in my power to make her happy." I replied. Then, I place the pancake onto a plate. Emily just nodded at me, not saying anything.

Once I finished making all the pancakes and placed some on the plate, I brought them up to Mother. Once I reached outside her door, I knocked twice and then twisted the doorknob and opened it. I saw Mother trying to sit in a upright position on her bed.

" Mother! Please do not move so much, the doctors clearly told you to try to minimise your movement!" I told her while setting the plate on the bedside table.
