I'm awoken by Charlie's singing yet again, I have no idea why she is always up so early. Today is a holiday so there is no work for either of us.
"Charlie, just chill out." I say in a raspy tone. She prances down the steps as I follow close behind.
"So you're going to your Aunt Lulu's house today?" Covering her mouth quickly not realizing she just placed my secret agenda out in the open.
Auntie Quinn's eyebrows shoot up. "Why are you going into Lulu's? Axel got all your stuff already, you don't need to be over there so soon."
My Auntie Quinn and Auntie Lulu weren't the best of friends, like I said Fairies and Vampires don't quite get along but for my sake they act cordial.
"Why don't Charlie, Axel and, I go with you?" She says eyeing me down.
"Um, why would you want to come Auntie Quinn? We're just going to talk about magic." Trying my hardest to not make eye contact with her.
"I've always been curious about magic and I would love to see that lovely little fairy Lulu." She passed me my flask.
There are only three reasons Auntie Quinn wants to come; One to irritate Aunt Lulu, she loves to piss her off, it literally became a hobby of hers. Two to be nosey about what Lulu was telling me and/or teaching me. Three make sure Lulu isn't bad mouthing about her or talking about how she should have been with Uncle Axel instead of Quinn.
"Sure, I don't see why not, shoot, let's go now." I say almost too enthusiastically.
--------------------------------------------------
The car ride was more tense than usual, Charlie was tapping away on her phone flirting with the many guys she had wrapped around her finger.
"Who are you texting." I lean towards her whispering. I have no idea why I am whispering, Auntie Quinn's hearing was impeccable.
"I'm getting the details for this party that's going down in three days." swiftly tapping away. "You want to come?"
I thought for a while. "Sure, why not." I don't normally go to parties with other people because I'm afraid of the brew failing on me, but Auntie Lulu said she tweaked it so it should last longer. The car ride isn't long at all, Lulu's house is actually walking distance, but Uncle Axel decided to drive. I hop out the car slamming the door way too hard in the process, as soon as the door closed Auntie Lulu's vibrant magenta and periwinkle wings shined a florescent light as she landed right in front of us.
"My beautiful Evie you're here." She quickly enveloped me into a hug, she smelled of fresh honey suckle and saddle wood. She grabbed Charlie giving her a tight hug as well as Uncle Axel, when it was time to greet Quinn she simply gave her an uncomfortable hug. Auntie Quinn ignores the awkward stance quickly tackling Lulu to the floor, planting playful kisses all over her cheeks and forehead.
"Charlie get your mother!" Lulu groaned. Getting off the ground as graceful as possible, wiping the kisses Quinn so graciously gave her. "I can see you're still aggressive Quinn, hopefully you haven't rubbed off on these pleasant young ladies."
Turning her back to us to lead us into the house, Quinn shoots the middle finger directly behind Lulu's head. "Oh no Lulu I've taught these girls the important lesson of not trying to steal another person's man."
Shaking my head to my Aunts constant bickering. "Auntie Lulu what did you do with the brew? The meanest people at work have been acting really friendly lately." I sat at the table across from Lulu. She rose from her seat and grabbed a jar a placing it on the table.
" I just added more peppermint and sage to it." She swirls the contents in the mason jar.
"I knew it had to be more sage, could the extra stuff be affecting humans near me?"
I grab the jar investigating it.
"Could be... but what else is on your mind child? Your aura is all over the place." She grabs both of my hands.
I turn to look at Charlie, she looks nervous. "Well, yesterday at work... I ran into a Vampire." Immediately Auntie Quinn stood next to Auntie Lulu's chair leaning over in fear glaring at me.
"And you didn't tell me!" She yelled. I shamefully stared at my hands.
"What happened when you ran into him." Auntie Lulu asked, squeezing my hands a bit harder. "Well, he seemed rude then became flustered and vanished."
Lulu's hands relaxed. "Oh, maybe he was just a Vampire that was on the run, passing through the town, as long as it was just him everything should be fine."
Quinn sat down adjacent to me "You sure it was just him? Charlie you only smelled one vampire?" Charlie nodded, saying she scoped the place out right after.
"I'll give it around two days." Lulu stated. "And if you consistently take the brew and double the dose, you have nothing to worry about my sweet little fairy."
I guess they're right, if I keep taking the brew I'll be fine, double the dose alright ill even triple the dose."
