THE WAY OLD FRIENDS DO

Veronique was with her husband Corbin on the set of the TV series they were busy filming. It was the last day of filming before they both had to go back to Los Angeles and she still had a few errands to run for the afternoon. "I still need to pick up something to eat on the way home and I need to get our flight tickets back to LA."

"Can you pick up my jacket from the dry cleaners too honey?"

"Sure. How late will you be home? We can get take out or I can book us a dinner for two at your favorite restaurant."

"Hopefully not too late. You know how it can go with a last day of shooting. If I'm not back home by eight get yourself something to eat. I'll get something on my way home."

"Okay. See you then. Happy last day of filming," Veronique replied with a smile."

Corbin winked at her and then walked back over to the camera. "Okay, let's get back to filming everyone!" He alerted the cast and crew on the set.

Veronique arrived home with a few bags of groceries and opened the front door. The nanny, Isabella was sitting on the living room floor with Julia playing with her Barbies. "Hi Isabella. How was Julia?"

"She was good ma'am."

"Thanks again for watching her for me. I appreciate it."

"You're welcome ma'am." Veronique pulled out a couple of hundred dollar bills and a small bag of food. "This is for looking after Julia for me for a while and also this is a little bit extra for all your time."

"You really didn't have to ma'am, but I appreciate it."

"I'll let you know as soon as we are back in Florida again."

"Thank you ma'am."

Veronique watched as the nanny left and then went to sit in the living room with Julia. "Hello honey. What are you doing?"

"Barbie fell from her horse."

"Ouch."

"She is in hospital now."

"Oh, I see. And where is the doctor?"

"Ken is the doctor."

She admired the doll dressed in a white lab coat complete with a small little stethoscope. "He is a handsome doctor."

Julia chuckled. "He really likes Barbie, but she is like, oh no, talk to the hand."

"You know I used to date a doctor once."

"You did?" Julia asked surprised.

"Yup," Veronique said smiling.

"What was he like mommy?"

"He was gorgeous. Amazing."

"Why didn't marry him?"

"You know what?"

"No, but you're going to tell me anyways."

"Would you like some ice cream? I got you your favorite."

Julia's face brightened up. "Chocolate?"

"You got it! You want some?"

"Yes!" Julia stood up from the floor and ran over to the kitchen where she sat down before Veronique entered.

Veronique took two bowls from the top of the cupboard and placed them on the island counter before she took out the tub of ice-cream and filled their bowls with ice-cream. She then sat down next to Julia and gave her a spoon to eat with. "Here you go bunny."
