One Month Later...

Allen stood outside the front door of Veronique's home with Bella in her carrier and the baby bag over his shoulder. "Will you take good care of her until I come and get her?"

"Yes. Allen, how long will you be gone for?"

"A few weeks, maybe a little longer. But I will be back."

Veronique tilted her head to the side and her eyes shot full of tears

Veronique tilted her head to the side and her eyes shot full of tears. "You don't have to do this."

"I need some time for myself to figure out what to do with my life Veronique."

"I understand. And Michelle?"

"She's in Vancouver as we speak. She's better off with her mother right now. And I'm sorry for letting you down too."

"At least you gave me a job. They've been kind enough to let me stay. I'll be working for Dr. Saunders now," she replied with a smile.

"That's a relief. I should be going." Allen turned around to leave after giving Bella to Veronique.

He walked down the footpath and was about halfway when Veronique called him back. "Take care Allen Chase."

He turned around to look at her and paused for a moment. "You too Veronique."

Allen walked over to the old convertible and got in. He sat there for a moment before he started the car and drove off.

The old convertible was speeding down the highway leaving behind LA, heading to who knows where. With only his suitcase in the trunk, Allen had the rooftop down, his sunglasses on and the radio on as he was driving to wherever the road was taking him. Not only was he leaving LA behind, but also his old life. He was now going to start a new life and a new career, but he wasn't sure what yet.

It was night time when he reached Las Vegas and he decided to settle in at a motel for the night. The old room was nothing like the classy home in LA he once shared with his late wife and his kids. It was quite basic with an old black and white TV he wasn't sure was still working. He went to sleep early and then stood up the next morning at the break of dawn to see what he could find to keep the cash rolling in.

Allen was walking down a sidewalk in downtown Las Vegas when he saw the poster in the window of a music store. "Experienced musicians wanted. Must be able to play the piano and sing."

Allen wrote down the address and number accompanying the advertisement.

Allen walked into a small auditorium with a piano set on the stage and a man and a woman was seating at a table facing the stage. He walked up to the edge of the stage to introduce himself. The woman wrote something on a notepad and then looked up at him again and smiled. "Good morning, may I get your name please?"
