Lady Lewis rushed through the main keep and stumbled across the courtyard. She jogged down the path and spotted the guests. Seeing them, she tidied her hair and dress then walked towards to greet them.
"Hi there," she greeted warmly, "Wait. Jay?" She paused and rushed forward pulling him into a warm embrace. He wrapped his arms around her and reciprocated. A few seconds passed and they separated. "It's so good to see you," she said kindly.
"Sorry. I'm a bit of a mess but a bunch of ships just washed up on our shores and I need to deal with it." Lady Lewis turned to the Captain. "Where are my manners?" she shook his hand, "So who are you?"
Captain Perlamo chuckled, "Not a problem my lady. I'm Captain Perlamo."
"I hate to ask this of you but could you maybe help with the rescue effort?" she asked.
Seeing how stressed she was looking the Captain agreed. Gratefully she thanked him and led Jason away back to the castle. They turned and walked up the tower staircase to a large library with a crackling fire in the hearth. She slumped onto the sofa and let out a long sigh. Lord Jason sat next to her and she put her head on his shoulder. They sat alone for a little while.
"I don't know how you do it?" she suddenly said.
"Do what?" Jason replied.
"Just rule and cope so calmly with everything." she sighed.
"I don't know. I guess I just sit down and relax every once in a while. But I suppose that the council eases the stress."
"I guess I never really thought about that," she curled up pressing her knees to her chest, "does this count?"
They both chuckled.A few minutes passed when a guard knocked on the door to the library. He stepped in with a woman. Lord Jason stood up and left the room. He stopped and turned, "I'll see you later Maddie."
