His eyes flickered open. Darkness, sheer darkness then light. One light getting bigger and bigger. Or closer and closer. And as his vision focussed he realised its form.
"Aveuglant?" He wheezed.
"Indeed. You need not worry for you aren't in pain warrior." Aveuglant said grabbing the lord's arm and pulling him onto his feet.
"Where am I?"
"I suppose you could say heaven but the waiting place would probably be more appropriate."
"Waiting for what exactly?"
"To be seen by the Light. They're normally quite quick but they are cleaning up Golmatoth's little war."
Lord Jason chuckled as he looked around. "There really is nothing here is there."
"Nope I get the same impression." Aveuglant sat down and looked bored.
Time passed, it could have been a few minutes or a few days but eventually a messenger appeared. His skin glowed a pale white under his laundered white toga. He undid a scroll and read it aloud, "Follow me and I will lead you to the Light for your sentence."
They walked through a gold door that just appeared and they emerged into a much brighter chamber ordained with gold and jewels the likes of which have never been seen.
"Hello again Aveuglant. Not very good at this are you." One of the silhouettes of light announced as he wiped black blood off of his armour.
"Well I'll be honest he was a lot stronger than I had expected."
"Yes I tell you he lasted longer than we expected as well." The light retorted, "But there lies he source of our next issue."
"I thought he was dead?" The lord asked.
"He is but his spirit is very much still an annoyance. When the first Lord of Eternal Night, Tafel, died his spirit went into a state of limbo waiting to be called again. The same thing just happened with Golmatoth, the one issue is that the necromancer is trying to summon him again."
"So he'll keep coming back till he gets his way." Aveuglant sighed.
"It looks that way, yes. Which is why we propose a new idea. We can bring the Lord back to life just at a cost," he turned to the lord and looked him dead in the eyes, ""You would bare the burden of Golmatoth's spirit. We believe that you would hold out for the time being but you would give in eventually."
"Then I would have to go into exile."
"You would."
"Then to protect the world and all that's in it I will do it."
"Then it is done." The light boomed.
