MICHI

Excuse me, what just happened?

I blinked a few times and frowned. Ohhhhkay. There was this annoyingly handsome Varsity player who, how do I say this? Stole my number? No, that doesn’t sound right. Anyway, I should kick that stupid thought out of my mind.

My classmates have been teasing me nonstop ever since I stepped back into the classroom. Oh seriously. Did that athlete have to make a scene? I’ve already got enough people stabbing me in the back as it is.

“Mitch?” Sandra called me. She’s one of the two people who stayed with me through thick and thin.

“Yea?”

“The prof’s not coming. It seems everyone’s busy attending to the athlete’s needs that classes have been suspended for the whole day.” She glanced at everyone in the room. “Just a sec. I’ll give the announcement.”

She stood on the platform and informed everyone. One of those other two people, Allis, leaned on my chair and frowned.

“Aw man. They could have at least informed us ahead of time. Those athletes came yesterday, didn’t they? The staff should’ve known they’ll have their hands full for the opening ceremony later.”

Athletes. Hmp. I crossed my arms and frowned at everyone shooting complaints at Sandra.

“What’s up with you today?” Allis nudged me.

“Nothing,” I said, still frowning.

“You’re not mad we both came even later than you did, are ya?” she narrowed her eyes at me. My classmates, beginning with the boys, began leaving the room. Sandra was still stuck listening to complains.

“No, of course not. It’s just…” I trailed off. I should probably tell them. I watched Sandy nod once and everyone else packed their stuff and left. Sandy sat on Allis’ desk.

“What did I miss?”

“Mitch is mad because we were later than usual.”

“No I wasn’t,” I retorted.

“Yes, you were,” Allis pressed.

“Those bitches didn’t bully you now, did they?” Sandy’s eyes widened.

Allis laughed. We were the only ones in the room now.

“Watch your mouth, Sand.” I glared at her.

“They did, did they?”

“Or did something else happen?” Over-assuming little girls.
