CLAUDIA'S POV
I wake up. I look over to Brittany's bed but she's not there. It's 10:00am. I roll out of bed and get my phone out.
"Where are you?" I text.
"I'm next door I didn't want to wake you." She replied.
"Ok I'll come over in a bit."
"See you soon sweetie x."
Crap. I was going to have to face Jai today. The guy who kissed me. He said he really likes me but I can't help think that he doesn't mean it. Maybe I'm just a rebound, after all, him and Ariana didn't break up that long ago. Shit. Now I'm gonna have to try and look good for this stupid guy who I was stupid enough to fall for. Why me? Why him?
I put on a cute baggy shirt with a pair of light blue denim shorts and my black vans. I left my naturally wavy hair out and applied a little amount of makeup.
As I went downstairs I noticed my mum looking a little stressed, and not at work.
"Hey mum, is everything alright?" I asked a little concerned.
"Yea yea, everything is fine, go have fun with your friends." She sounded distracted, I would have asked again but with my mums stubbornness, I would not get the answer until she was good and ready.
As I get to the steps leading to there house, all I can hear is laughter. The house sounded full, I could hear more laughs than just the ones I recognised.
I walk in and notice two other boys, the ones from there videos.
"Oh hey Claudia." Jai said standing up coming towards me, he placed his hand on the small of my back, as soon as I felt his touch a shiver went up my spine, what the hell is he doing to me? "This is James," he said pointing to a tall boy with a really cute smile. "And this is Daniel or Skip, he's the bug of the group." Everyone laughed.
"Hey Claudia, We've heard a lot about you already. Aye Jai?" James joked.
These guys all seemed so relaxed and like they didn't have a care in the world. That's probably what was so cool about hanging out with them, they didn't care. They were just them.
I looked at Jai who was joking with Daniel, just looking at him smile made me happy.
I went out to the kitchen to get a drink I heard someone follow me, probably Jai. I turned around to see not Jai, but Beau.
"Hey." He said.
"Hey."
"What you doing?" he asked.
"Just getting a drink." I laugh.
"Claudia what's wrong?" He seemed concerned.
"It's nothing really."
"Wanna come for a walk?"
I needed a friend so why not. We walked for a bit and I realize Beau isn't such a bad guy after all. He was really funny and sweet.
"Luke told me what happened between you and Jai." He said looking at the ground.
When I didn't respond he looked at me.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"Yea it's no big deal." I assured him. "Not to him anyway." I said under my breath. But I think he heard me anyway.
"Claud, Jai really likes you. He hasn't even looked at another girl since Ariana. Now he can't shut up about you."
"I know he's your brother and I know you're sticking up for him but all I can think is I'm just a rebound, a girl who can distract him from the girl he really does love." I said frustrated at how much of a little girl I was being, having a crush on a guy and making a big deal about it. But I can't help it, I'm falling for a guy who I'm not sure will ever legitimately feel the same.
"I don't know Claudia, I'm his brother and I think I can tell when he truly likes a girl. And the way he looks at you, well you know.."
"Are you and Brit algood now?" I really wanted to stop talking about Jai. The only person who can tell me he really does like me and for me to believe it is Jai himself.
"Yea we're good, she's actually really funny I found out this morning while you were sleeping." He was laughing to himself.
"I know, hey actually on the subject of Brittany do you know what's happening with her and Luke?"
"He hasn't said anything to me, he's not one to talk about his feelings. But there is no way he doesn't like her. Every time she comes over he just lights up, it's good to see actually."
"Should we head back?" I asked him.
"Yea we'll get back before it's dark."
Once we arrived back at there house everyone was in the lounge except for Jai. Then suddenly I felt a pull on my arm.
"Shit Jai you gave me a heart attack." He dragged me into the kitchen.
"Sorry, so umm how come you went on that walk with Beau?" He didn't look me in the eye.
"I just needed a friend I guess and he offered." I said suspecting the question wasn't just out of curiosity.
"Right, just umm be careful ok." Now I was confused.
"What do mean?"
"Just make sure you don't take Beau's flirting to heart, he does it to everyone." He actually sounded jealous.
"He was just being a friend." I reassured him.
He finally looked me in the eye. Our gaze not leaving eachother. We were both slowly leaning closer to each other then...
"Oh sorry, Claud we gotta head home." Brittany said, I rolled my eyes at the perfect moment she just ruined.
"Sure, umm seeya Jai." I smiled at him.
As Brit and I walked in our front door we noticed mum at the table with a whole lot of documents set on the table looking worried, really worried.
"Hey mum, what's wrong?" I asked as she put her hands on her head covering her eyes.
"The job I got was losing money and they had to let people go and since I was last hired I was first fired."
"What does that mean then?" Brittany asked.
"I don't know but for now girls, we can't afford to live here." She sounded really upset. We'd only been here for a few weeks and now we can't afford to live here.
"Well what are we gonna do then?" I asked.
"I haven't figured that out yet. But tomorrow night we are going out to dinner with the Brooks' to that fancy restaurant in town."
"Umm ok goodnight mum we're gonna work this out ok? I promise." I kissed her on the cheek heading to bed.
"We're gonna be fine Bob." Brittany hugged mum and came up to the room.
"Shit."
"Yep."
"I don't wanna have to stay in some crappy motel." I say throwing myself on the bed.
"Don't worry, things will work out," Brittany said assuredly "right?"
"I hope so. Goodnight Brit."
"Night Claud."
